hi
we stayed there 2 years ago & they had the boxes in reception but sadly at that time they were rather lax to say the least in who could wander in there & when...a fellow tourist had all her valuables, money & passports nicked & was very distressed....understandably. the hotels response at the time was to restrict access for a day.making everyone sign in before going in.but the next day it was as slack as ever.
i hope as has been said they have tightened up security but we put on our own little padlock on top of the hotel provided one just to be extra safe.
just be careful & make sure your padlock/s are closed properly before you leave......it was no doubt a fellow tourist that stole from the unfortunate lady we met in 2004.
I'd like to pass on a little bit of advice given to me by a friend who had money stolen out of her safety deposit box while staying in Goa four years ago, they didnt have travellers cheques just pound notes and its not always easy to keep track on how much money you take out and spend over a 2 week holiday so now on her advice we take a 'petty cash tin' and lock everything inside the tin ie tickets passport money etc, dont get me wrong it wont stop them stealing if the are hell bent on taking it but if its a case of just stealing money they cant get at it. We now take the tin everywhere we go as a safety measure.
regards
Is it on the Baga side of the resort or the Candolim side? thanks.
Allan.
Yes thats a great help, thanks for your speedy response, shirleyV
Come out the Osborne towards the road...cross the road by St Anthony's chapel..and take the tiny road down beside the Resorte Sante Antonio (you're virtually just crossing straight over the road and right down this tiny road!). Follow it down to the beach...first shack on the right hand side..Fishermans Paradise! Best place to be!
Ages are pretty mixed if you go to Club Cubana and the bars in Baga , think it's Tito's Road. You'll meet more people your own age. (or my age)
My folks got back from staying at the Osborne 2 weeks ago and loved it so much already booking for next year.
I have just read the reviews on the Osborne Hotel in Calangue. Is there two Osbornes i.e Osborne Hotel and Osborne Resort?
I can't see anything conflicting in the reviews. Can any regulars help?
the osborne resort consists of 3 seperate areas with their own pool and bar etc, they are all in the same area though. we just got back this week and i would recommend the osborne, good location between candolim and calangute and the walk to the beach is hassle free.
same place...just called different things by different people. it has 3 buildings with rooms - phase 1,2 &3 just named because of when they were built. its a good basic hotel in a good location sort of at the end of calangute heading towards candolim but near shops, bars etc.

looks like i am going to book the osborne this time. can anybody say which is the best phase. i understand there are 3.
andy
thanks andy for your info. will get brochure today and have a look
I too am staying in the Osbourne next March and would welcome any comments onit. Especialy about which Phase is best.
We stayed there in March. We were in phase 3 at first, but we had no air conditioning and we were having difficulty sleeping because of it, so we upgraded for the next 11 nights to one in phase 2 it was in the corner on the ground floor and it cost £40. The only drawback was that our new room was next to the bar and dining area, so we were awoken at 6 in the morning by the waiters and chef etc. It has'nt put us off though as we are going back in december 2007 for xmas and new year. It is in an excellent location and the staff are couteous and friendly. While we were there our air conditioning blew up and they got someone to it and it was fixed in half an hour. Can't wait to get back there!
