The best beach is at San Stefanos which is about 15/20 mins from Sidari a large crescent bay with water sports etc. i think we went to paradise beach but the tide was in if it is the right one!! It is really beautiful though

Ok, Thanks a lot!

Probably is the one you're talking about, I'll have to root through my guide bboks!

Sunset Beach is a little piece of heaven :wow

It is at the end of the Peroulades road, a wee bit out of town. I think is cost us abou 5euro in a cab.

But you got to see it. There is a lovley restaurant at the top of the cliff and you walk down some steep stairs to reach the beach. See the Panorama HERE

Go for some late afternoon sun, stay for dinner and watch the sun set. Perfection :sun

Wow, MrsMac you were right, it looks wonderful. "Right up my street!"
Thanks for that info, it would be nice for a change of scenery. Sidari sounds....well, rather British!

Thanks

Got to agree with you a wee bit there. It can come across as it is catering for Brits who like Corfu with egg and chips. However if you want something a bit less like Blackpool-we did- then we personally avoided the main street and headed to the Canal d'amour area. Much quieter and more relaxed.

I do love Sidari though, and Corfu as a whole

sunset beach that is the one I was thinking off. If you turn off to the right while going through the village on prev repy it takes you to an unmade road where the views are amazing over the sea. I think I have some photos of both somewhere will have to dig them out

MrsMac, that's a great site, loads of info.

I'm toying with the idea of going to Sidari in October (1st week), and was putting it off because of the "Brit" thing.

Need to decide in the next week or two, and maybe your site has swayed it. Might try and stay just outside (Joylife), and hire a car for a few days.

Hi Robby,

I would agree with you re staying a bit out of town. We stayed at the Leandros apts last year (nice and small), they are just round the corner from Joylife (nice complex, not too big) Have you stayed there before? There is also Damia's directly across the road from Joylife, which was beautiful I would recommend there if they have availability.

By keeping up this end of the town you avoid all the "biz" and have easy access to Peroulades, sunset beach etc.

Hope you get somewhere nice sorted.

Can I suggest you have a look through THIS site. I found it really helpful. I hve linked to the main message boards, you will easily navigate to the home page.

MrsMac, you are a star.

Would you recommend the Joylife ???

Other options are; Leandros or Elena

Car hire as well, what would you take???

Hiya, here goes......

Would you recommend the Joylife ???
Well, we didnt stay there but did have a drink and seen some of the football there (large screen over head projector thinggy). Pool area is to the front of the property and although not too big it may get busy at peak times i feel. That should not be a prob in October. Common areas were kept nice and clean and the staff I encountered were friendly as you would expect in Corfu.

Other options are; Leandros or Elena
Leandros suited us perfectly. 2 adult and 2 kids in a 2 bed s/c apartment for about £1000 at the Scottish schoolholidays. Not bad in my book. Bedrooms were a good size each with own patio and veranda/balcony. Apt also had separate kitchen/diner with usual equuipment (no microwave) i heard someone complain about that ???!!! and bathroom with full bath shower etc.
Pool was small but the property is small so not a problem. No noisy music. Pooltable with kitten resident in top pocket (i guess it may have moved on to larger premises by now) And the beautiful George and Maria who will cook snacks and light meals to order.
It's about a half hour walk into Sidari, a taxi home at night should be about 5 euro, freely available from the rank in town.

I think the Elena was next door but one or so, but afraid I have no experience of the property. Sorry

I have a great map I can PM you if you like, I'll just need to get permission from its creator first.

Car hire as well, what would you take??
Mmmmm... I dont drive and hubby WONT drive abroad so cant offer any help there either. Only thing I can say is if your happy to, then hire a car and get around it's a beautiful place and it just takes TOO long on the bus!! :omg

hope some of this lot helps

Thanks MrsMac, the map would come in handy if you could pm me it.

The other option in Corfu is Dassia, which is obviously closer to Corfu town and the airport. What would you suggest is the better option ?

I was in Pefkohori (Halkidiki) in June and loved it, yet didn't like Hanioti which we visited for a day (too touristy), that's why I thought Sidari might be a problem, it sounds purpose build as a tourist resort :?

Could you recommend any inland, typically Greek villages woth visiting ??

Lots of questions, sorry,

Robby

ps, I've only just discovered Greece these last couple of years, I normally do Spain, but getting sick of the Britishness (me getting old me thinks  ). I have only been to Lindos and Pefkohouri, and both places were excellent, and over the coming years will hopefully cross many more ticks off my list.

i think if you are getting sick of the britishness then neither Sidari or Dassia would suit you. I have been told that St Peter near Kavos is nice. I really enjoyed Molyvos on Lesbos for real greek resort.

Right guys I have found THIScracking map. I wish I had found it before I went out last year. It's a wee belter. :hyper

Enjoy xx

Robby, the Elena B and Leandros is about the lime green xroads in the bottom centre just about where the map stops, the road nearest to the river.

ps the whole site is magic. Obviously a hobby for someone who is very well informed and has great passion for the area. CLICK HERE

Thanks once again MrsMac, could you point out where the Joylife is on the map ???

Robby,

The best directions i could give would be its on the lime green road that crosses the river, half way between the xroads and the river.
Does that mke sense :?:

I will email you the map with all the accommodation listed, you will be able to follow that one better. :P
