The Blau by a million miles, but keep it quiet, don't want it full of chavs

is varadero livly and full of drunks or for young people more than families.

I would agree, Blau Varadero by a long shot. However, the Palma Real is situated on the outskirts of Varadero town rather than on the hotel strip peninsula. So Blau has a beach whereas Palma Real doesnt but you can still access the beach which is only 5 mins walk. Blau Varadero is approx 10 mins drive up the peninsula.

Not a great deal of nightlife in Varadero town so if you like it loud this is not the place to go! There are a few bars, one or two with live music but most nighlife is centered around the hotel entertainment.

There will be plenty of lizards and ghekos running around the pathways or on trees but no real animal parks or dedicated places to see reptiles in Varadero. Nearest thing to wildlife is the Dolfinarium which is worth a visit.

Best thing about Varadero is you can go on an overnight trip to Havana which is amazing but some people consider poor and shabby. I call it untouched culture, like stepping back in time 40 years. See it while it remains the same. This trip usually includes a night at the world famous Tropicana show.

I think Cuba is great but it is not for everyone. If you prefer an active, loud, beer fuelled, disco dancing resort then this is not the place for you. But if you are prepared to relax, go with the flow and switch to 'Cuban Time' you could end up having the most amazing holiday.
