We have also stayed here twice having previously stayed at the Sennegambia. Feel that the Palma Rima is well worth the money.
Would reccommend staying in the bungalow rooms though - didnt like the hotel rooms one bit!
There was quite a big thread on the Palma Rima on here a while ago, should still be on.
We walk to the Kololi area along the beach nearly every day but have never walked along the main road at night. There are several bars and restaurants on the Palma Rima road but only about £2 in a taxi down to Kololi/Sennegambia strip for a bit more variety.
Any more questions just ask :D

Many thanks, we are now looking at the Sunset Beach Hotel instead. Have you seen this one or know what it is like?

We have just booked Sunset Beach Hotel in Kotu. When we went to book we were undecided between Palma Rima and Sunset Beach. In the travel agents the girl that was serving said she had been a rep there for three years and she recommended the Sunset Beach, she said it was a nicer hotel in a better location. I am hoping she was telling the truth as Sunset Beach was marginally cheaper!

It's must be about 15yrs since we stayed at The Palma Rima but then if I remember rightly, it was just bungalows, no rooms as such-----but having said that even then there were quite a few restaurants in the vacinity,so I would imagine now there would be alot more!!!!!

Also if its still the same, you come out the front of the hotel, turn right, walk a short way to the beach and right in front of you as you get to the beach there is a sorty of shack, that does the most fantastic "FISH&CHIPS", but not as we know!!!!!!!!!!!They put a freshly caught fish, plus chips into a foil parcel then chargrill the parcel, while you enjoy a drink or two!!!!!!!!Fantastic experience!!!!!!!!

Also if you turn right onto the beach its quite a nice walk to Senegambia!
