Im back!!
had a fabulous time, the weather was ok rained for a bit each day but it never spolied our time. Thanks for all your help in leading up to my trip it was really appreciated. Now all i have to do is try plan my next visit, maybe around November time.
Glad the trip went so well. I can't wait return too!
I am planning a trip for my Parents 40th wedding anniversary as a suprise. We are only going for the weekend though, travel to Paris via Eurostar on Saturday morning and return Sunday afternoon/evening. We want to stay in a fairly nice hotel as it is a special occasion but as it is only one night and don't intend being in the hotel except to sleep and have breakfast don't want to spend a fortune. Also can you hire a car and guide to take you around Paris. My dad can't walk far so this is our only option. There will be 6 of us. Finally can anyone reccomend a great restaurant for an eveing meal, with great views, perhaps over the river and a high standard of service and food. The river cruise dinners aren't an option unfrtunately. Would be prepared to spend a bit on the right restaurant. Thanks in advance and sorry for all the questions.
Hi going to Paris for 4 days in May. I really want 1 special night for my husband and myself. I would love a romantic meal, a trip on the seine in the dark and a visit to the late (11pm) show at the Moulin Rouge. I have looked at many sites offering this but am not sure which one to go for or if it is better to try and book it all individually? I would love the help of someone who knows Paris and the best option for me. I am working with a budget of £200.00 less if at all possible. The packages i have seen have dinner at the eiffel tower and i was wondering which of these give you your own individual table if any.
Hotel De la Place des Alpes
Has anyone any knowledge of this place? It's on the Left Bank in the Place de Italie.
We haven't been to Paris since my 40th birthday, 14 years ago, and this time it's a DIY job from E Mids to CDG with BMI Baby and the hotel was booked through Venere.
Back then we went on a coach holiday and didn't like the fact that we were herded everywhere. On the Sunday they all went to Versailles but we had come to see Paris so opted out.
We took all day walking both banks of the river from Invalides down to Notre Dame then back the other side. Superb.
When we get back I'll do a hotel review and get some pics up.
Now to persuade her that my 3yr old Canon is not up to the job and I really do need a new one
Just booked us a week away in Paree for Sept 11th at the Has anyone any knowledge of this place? It's on the Left Bank in the Place de Italie.

We are staying in the Chanteloup Hotel on the 16th Sept - 18th Sept. This is in Chanteloup-en-Brie. Any ideas on how much a taxi would cost from CDG as our flight lands rather late.
Also - what would be the best way to get from there into the centre of Paris - we want to take in as many sites as we can for the one full day we are there.
All help is greatful - we've never been before!
Thanks in advance!
hello all............ our daughter wants to go to Paris with me for a few days (must say i'm not keen) nevertheless i said i would go. i have no idea where to stay any ideas will be greatly accepted. she will be 17 and we are looking to fly from newcastle to cdg next summer. thanks in advance
We have just come back from a week there and I wasn't really over the moon about going either after we had to change our original plans due to redundancy.
We had a fantastic time there and we'd go back tomorrow at a drop of a hat.
The thing about Paris is wherever your hotel is it will not be central for everything. Paris spreads out a long way and what is local for the Eiffel Tower is miles away for Bastille, Monmartre or Notre Dame.
Best look for a hotel near to a Metro station and in a nice area. Our hotel in Place d'Italie (see above) was probably too far out but right by a Metro meaning we could be anywhere in the city within 30 minutes.
One area that could be called central is the Latin Quarter by Notre Dame and there are plenty of reasonable hotels around there as well as being the nicest area of Paris for exploring away from the tourist traps.
That area is where we will stay next time.
thanks, i will start doing some homework on hotels now
I stayed in a hotel right next door to the Eiffel Tower called The Eiffel Seine i would highly recommend this hotel.
hi i was thinking of taking my hubby to paris for his birthday in march flying with ryanair but im not so sure about accomodation any help?i would like to do all the usual touristy stuff and also a day at disney thanks in advance
http://www.discountcityhotels.com I use them when I stay in London and they also have listings for hotels in Paris. Last time I was in Paris I stayed in the Ecole Militaire area, within walking distance of the Eiffel Tour and Napoleons Tomb, lots of cafe's and restaurants and next to a Metro station.
Try looking at
thanks for your feedback
I stayed in the Eiffel Seine hotel, which is 2mins away from the Eiffel Tower and right facing The Metro which could take you to Disney i think. If you would any info on this hotel PM me.
We'll be staying for 4 nights, just need to find a hotel now....
Can anyone recommend a decent guidebook?
Thanks.
I always used to use the Berlitz guide books as they are small enough for your pocket or handbag. You can usually get them at the ariport if you haven't got one beforehand.
Thanks Luci, I'll have a look at that one.
I don't want a chain hotel, but something a bit more traditional and small, with charm and cleanliness. Our budget is up to £110 per night.
I've already looked at the hotel St Jacques, has anyone got any others?
Cheers!
Hi Puddleduck - son stayed in Hotel d'Albe st michel and said it was super, I've often fancied it but it's fitting it in - will do one day soon. Cheers - Mary
Thanks Mary. I'll check that one out.
