i would say its definitely ok as i only got my sons passport last year 4 weeks before his 16th birthday they said he could have a childs passport if i got it before his birthday and use it for 5 years, which would make him nearly 21. also i have taken both kids on seperate occasions to turkey with 4 mths left of their passports without any problems

My daughters passport is due to run out Jan 2009 and we are going to Turkey August 2008. I've got it in my head that you need 6 months on your passport to gain entry is this correct :que

I think it's 3 months, However you can get your passport from the passport office renewed and it will end 10 years after the last day your last one was.

Not 100% correct. You can get a passport renewed at any time and they will add any unused portion up to 9 months onto it.

You can wear glasses as long are your eyes are clearly visible, I wore mine last September

Help,

I have just realised this morning that my 17 year old son has only 5 months left on the end of his passport before it expires from 18 August when he goes on a 2 week holiday to Turkey. With the problems at the passport office getting a new one could be a problem.

How strict are the authorities sticking to the rule of having 6 months left on the passport for entry to Turkey? Do you think he will be okay?

He is going to Altinkum.

Thanks

girlie you shouldnt have a problem getting a renewal done if you do it today and use the fast track service. Ive renewed 2 over the last couple of months and they were both back in 2-3 weeks just by using the standard service.

I think they are quite strict with the 6 months, I have never been in that situation myself but it would be a risk to take a chance.

Normally passports do come back very quick, my families have all come back in about a week on normal service but with the backlog at the moment I don't know how reliable that is either. Maybe you would do best to look into getting it done on a one day service, I know it is inconvenient and expensive but I wouldn't take a chance on getting it back in time.
