I can only say what i have been told, i am not trying to cause Angie any worries, but surely "prevention is better than cure" !!!!!!
hi angie my twin sons were 18 in may when we travelled and their passports that exspires in septmember were child ones that they have had for five years and we had no problems i did check with the turkish embassey and the travel agents before our holiday sue
i would say its definitely ok as i only got my sons passport last year 4 weeks before his 16th birthday they said he could have a childs passport if i got it before his birthday and use it for 5 years, which would make him nearly 21. also i have taken both kids on seperate occasions to turkey with 4 mths left of their passports without any problems
Seems to me like the issue is sorted !!!
I have now booked my flights for the season
My daughters passport is due to run out Jan 2009 and we are going to Turkey August 2008. I've got it in my head that you need 6 months on your passport to gain entry is this correct
I think it's 3 months, However you can get your passport from the passport office renewed and it will end 10 years after the last day your last one was.
Not 100% correct. You can get a passport renewed at any time and they will add any unused portion
hi stoddy- your daughter will have to get a new passport before she travels to turkey, your passport needs to be valid for 6 months on your date of return.i am also going to turkey in aug 08 and my passport expires in november 08,i have just sent off for my new one which will be dated november2018.you will be able to apply for her passport 9 monthes before it expires.
that is the rules from the passport office for visitors to turkey at least 6 months validity after your return
Hi stoddy ,have a wee look at the link i have posted it tells you quite a lot of information about travel to turkey ,including passport requirements .
I had to change mine recently and i was allowed 9 months on mine
I was in the same position last year, had to renew my passport 6months in advance, I did not loose out the six months are added, one thing, if you wear glasses, for the photo you have to take them off, the eyes need to be seen that's what I was told
You can wear glasses as long are your eyes are clearly visible, I wore mine last September
Travelling to turkey with my husband on 13th august,my husbands passport expires on 19th march 09.Will he have to get a new passport or will his passport be ok, as it will have 7 months left on it at time of entry in to turkey.
it will be ok it must have six monthsleft on the date of your return to the uk
I have just realised this morning that my 17 year old son has only 5 months left on the end of his passport before it expires from 18 August when he goes on a 2 week holiday to Turkey. With the problems at the passport office getting a new one could be a problem.
How strict are the authorities sticking to the rule of having 6 months left on the passport for entry to Turkey? Do you think he will be okay?
He is going to Altinkum.
Thanks
girlie you shouldnt have a problem getting a renewal done if you do it today and use the fast track service. Ive renewed 2 over the last couple of months and they were both back in 2-3 weeks just by using the standard service.
Normally passports do come back very quick, my families have all come back in about a week on normal service but with the backlog at the moment I don't know how reliable that is either. Maybe you would do best to look into getting it done on a one day service, I know it is inconvenient and expensive but I wouldn't take a chance on getting it back in time.
