I have been visiting Patong for 2 years probably 8 visits as we run a bar in the town. I have noticed a steady increase in violence over the last six months, and am aware of reported deaths in the Phuket news resulting from fights and even two foreigners mudered.

Tuk Tuk drivers and motor cycle taxis are becoming more aggressive in their approach. I have been subjected to my home being burgled to the extent they even stole my cloths and toiletries. Unfortunately the police do not seem that interested in crime against foreigners even though in total i had 300,000 baht in stolen. They totally cleared me out including passports etc.

The next day i had a thai Tuk Tuk driver come up to me with a calculator with 300 displayed he laughed and walked off. Needless to say i suspected the Tuk Tuk driver who I used to take me home nightly for the past 2 months. The police were not interested in this view and no one was ever brought to justice. The next week i see this same Tuk Tuk driver with gold around his neck unfortunately as a foreigner there is nothing you can do.

Its true what i was told when i first visited thailand, the thais look at us as a walking ATM machine with no rights.
