ok ok ok dontget ya pants in a twist !!!!!!! we will soon see then wont we !!! i work in a travel agents and i no what sells. i got it wrongabout antalya that just shows how popular it is if i didnt no!!!
Jo keep up the great work
I am not wanting to start a slanging match but as far as I am concerened you know diddley squat.
You seem to have started off on the wrong foot on this forum that you have been a member of for a few days and one of the worst things you have done is to tell people what holiday company you work for and if the head office were to look in and see how you have conducted yourself for your first few posts then they would realise that you are not doing the company any favours by advertising the knowledge of the staff they have.
I am more concerned that the people who look in here who are not members and are not as seasoned travellers as lots of the members are will take your completely ignorant advice on board and thus maybe not enjoy their holidays and worse still not return to Turkey again.
I suggest that until you really know what you are talking about you do not try to give advice on travelling to Turkey.
On the other hand this forum could be a fantastic sourse of information for you and if you start at the last page and work your way back to page 1 you will then have the vast knowledge of the many members of this board and in turn can only help people who want to book Turkish holidays from you who will then gain from the knowledge that you have.
John
well said John there seems to be a few neebies that are now going this forum and all they see to want to do is start arguements with the many members who having been members for a while and all they are trying to do is help and give sensible advice from their own past experiences.
Eloquent.
I went to Magaluf in febuary when i booked it the travel agent was willing to send me many places that wouldnt have very good weather. I picked Magaluf and some days the weather was lovely somedays not so good. But it was a week away from england so i was not bothered. I have never been to turkey but i am sure if the option was there for a winter holiday plenty of people would take it. Everyone knows winter holidays are a complete gamble with the weather and if turkey is as nice as you lot make it out to be why not take that gamble in turkey?, as i said it is time away from work and england where the weather is guaranteed to be awful. If turkey is hotspot for the summer i am sure it can be for the winter too.
Well said Vicky have you signed the petition
Just signed your petition for winter flights to Turkey, fingers crossed it will happen.
Keep up the good work and
Regards.
TurkishDelight.
i have signed it ichmeler girl maybe easyjet or one of the low cost airlines might get on to this idea and start doing flights
i've signed it - good luck!
Hopefully when the season starts, and many of us that visit Turkey during the summer months and visit our chosen resorts can pass on the word, any one that uses this site that has a business and is willing to collect signatures in Turkey that would be a great help.
If anyone is willing to collect signatures, please send me a pm with your email address and I will send you some forms that I have made up, to collect signatures.
Many thanks for all the continuing support.
Jo
Although we have not been to Turkey yet, we are going in May, to Icmeler, and I have to say that from what we have heard from friends and read on Holiday truths we are looking forward to it, also like to add that anywhere in winter must be better that Glasgow, where it is in the low-degrees and can have snow, rain, fog and sunshine all in one day and before lunch at that, so go for it Jo, yes I have signed the petition. even yesterday it was 2 degrees and chucking it down. Roll on 20 May, only just under 5 weeks to go.
You can Fly to Atalaya in the winter months - Both First choice and JMC fly.
As a matter of interest I have a local newspaper article from October 2004 detailing big expansion of Dalaman airport to increase capacity to 5 million per year from 2 million due to be completed in summer 2006.
Article says Dalaman will be third largest airport after Istranbul and Antalya. Hopefully airlines will want to use this expansion for all year round flights.
Well folks, I have started packing my suitcase. Its full of petition forms!!! I have even got some bound ready to attack all the passengers on my flight for signatures.
So I will be doing my best to cover quite a bit of Marmaris and Icmeler while I am there. Thanks to a lot of members, I know there are forms going to lots of other areas, Bodrum, Kalkan, Dalaman, Guzemcali, Davutlar, Olu Deniz, Dalyan, Kusadasi, Fethiye, Turgreties (think I spelt that wrong) just to name a few.
So well done to you all, if there is anyone else that wants the petition forms sent to them, send me a p.m. with your email address and I will forward them on to you.
The online petition is on 1787 at the moment, there are over 700+ names on the Fethiye petition that was already running, and set up by Sue. Also over 600 names on a list collected by our Dalaman volunteer, via an exhibition. So not doing too badly.
So a big THANK YOU to everyone that has signed and is supporting the petition.
How true this is but I am told by a friend who lives in Fethiye that the biggest oppostion to winter flights to Dalaman is Antalya airport who think they will lose their winter trade . can you believe that!
Petition for winter charter flights to Turkey.
Turkey Several Brits with second homes in Turkey has started a petion requesting charter flights fly there during the winter. Owing to the increasing number of people who have bought, or are purchasing, holiday homes in Turkey, the group argue it will be in the financial interests of the flight companies. In addition, they argue that the local economy will benefit from increased winter tourism. The petition was created by Joanne Lamacraft a member of INVALID URL a website that deals with holiday lets for property owners. During the summer, members will be collecting signatures from holidaymakers, owners and related buyers. The petition already has 1,500 signatures, but needs more for the flight companies to take note. If you wish to sign the petition contact Joanne Lamacraft at jo2beans@hotmail.com
I received my first email last night, I did not even know it was going to be in the magazine. So it just goes to show, all the efforts are starting to pay off. Word IS getting around. I have left my email address on view in this posting, which is not normally allowed, as I think it will be beneficial to the petition.
I have been in Turkey, Marmaris for the past 3 weeks. While I was there I received a telephone call from the Mayors office. I met with the Mayor Mr Ali Acar on Tuesday 17th May, and he signed and supports the petition. There were television and press at this meeting, and everyone fully supports what we are trying to do.
Hopefully, everyone that has petition forms from me, are busy collecting signatures, and when these are collected in at the end of the season, we will have many more signatures, in total I am already aware of over 3000 names collected, via the online petition, and others collected from other areas, I am sure this is just the tip of the ice berg.
So a big Thank You, to everyone that is supporting this petition, and I believe we will eventually convince the airlines there is a genuine need and market for these flights.
Keep up the good work Jo we are all behind you
