I am having trouble finding a suitable clear sealable plastic bag for my medication. Where are others getting them from? I have tried the supermarket, Boots and WH Smith with no luck. Your help would be very appreciated.

I was sent to WH Smiths at Teeside airport to purchase one(20p) because the one I had for eye drops only was not the right size.
I and all my friends have been using freezer/sandwich ziplock bags with no problems at all.
Yes I just use resealable freezer bags no problem. They are just under the right size. 180mm x 200mm. You don't even need ones that zip. Mine cost £1 for 60 bags or (2 for £1.79) from Instore/Poundstretcher. Karen
Wow! Thanks for the speedy replies. I have got some freezer bags but they have writing on and an opaque square. I thought it might be rejected because of that. I am so concerned that I won't be able to take my inhalers with me!!!
WH Smiths are making a killing on these bags if you can buy 60 for £1.
The bags I have are not zipped.......the mechanism whereby they lock together by sliding the plastic strips together are called ziplock 
Trish, I've used the exact bags your talking about and as long as they're the right size they're fine, I've never been stopped. Having said that if you go to Poundstretcher they do plain versions (sandwich bags) not freezer as the opaque section is for writing on before putting in the freezer
Most airports hand these bags out FOC during check in Q in my experience if you haven't got one
But I suppose not all if WHSmith are selling them at such a highly inflated price

you can also buy them on ebay which is where i bought mine from

Accessorize are selling sturdy transparent zipped cosmetic bags which are exactly the maximum allowed size - 200x200mm square. Think I paid £3.99 for mine so a bit more expensive than a freezer bag :-) But as I fly quite a lot I decided it was worth it for something that takes everything I need in the toiletries line for a long weekend which saves me having to check-in a case and which will be sturdy enough for repeated general use as a toilet bag.

We used "zippy" freezer bags from Asda with an opaque label when we went to Fuerteventura a couple of months ago - there were no problems with security at either end. At Manchester Airport there were staff giving out clear plastic bags for anyone who didn't have any, but I think most airports are now charging 20p-50p to give out these bags.
Reading this has made me realise I haven't got a clue about current luggage rules!

Thanks everyone I am so grateful for all the replies. I was starting to panic that I wouldn't get anything suitable. We go next Saturday!!! I think I will take a chance on the freezer bag although I will keep a look out in case I come across one of the other suggestions. I know these security measures are for our own good but it does add to the stress of getting everything for holidays.

A colleague at work flew up from, I think Stansted at the weekend and was told to use a machine to get a plastic bag at £1 a go! To add insult to injury, the machine swallowed his £1 and didn't give him the bag. Take your own folks!

They gave me one at Stansted in April with no trouble. I only had a small bottle of perfume in my handbag which I showed to the man on duty but he said it still had to go in a plastic bag and handed me one. I've hung on to it for the next trip. I can't believe they are actually charging £1 now 
In case anyone is not sure. You are allowed a maximum of 1L in the clear plastic bags so no more than 10 x 100mls items and the bag must be able to be fully closed. As they are asking that just essential items for the journey are put in the bags, don't think anyone should even need this much. Karen

I was in town today doing a bit of holiday shopping. I'll need to take painkillers in my hand luggage onto the aircraft.

I went in, explained exactly what I'd read in your post and the assistant immediately knew the bag I was after. They had none on display but did have just one bag upstairs in their stock room which I purchased for £4
It is, as you say, a very sturdy bag and will have other uses after my holiday!

I think that they must have proved really popular and I could kick myself now for not buying one for my Mum at the same time as it sounds as if they are selling out of them - just have to hope they decide to re-stock them before her next flight.
