hola all
would any of you have any info on platja d'aro and surrounding areas, eating/drinking out etc
cheers in advance
jay
Theres an excellent minigolf called lobs which is owned by an English guy who also owns a restaurant a few doors down.
Theres a lovely little Austrian bar on the way out of playa as you head towards calonge that does an excellent all day breakfast
If you walk the other way through playa then just opposite the burger king is pp's park which is a funfair / amusement park and has plenty for the kids to do ( its 20euros for 10 ride tokens and most rides are only one token )
theres also a bowling alley along the main street.
If you have kids and are on a budget theres the usual McDonalds and Burger King, but the also a kebab shop that does kids meals along the main street ( cant remember the name off hand but its near an on street crepe stall ) that does massive kids and adult meals really cheaply.
Most of the shops and restaurants along the main strip are fairly expensive as its become a bit of a boutique type resort.
Theres a big Carrefour on the outskirts but a fair sized one in the centre near where the market is
Make sure you have an ice cream from "dino's" as they are really really good
hope this helps
Simon
A fairly cheap pizzeria called "La Reina"
Theres a market at palamos which is much bigger than the one in playa which is a bus trip away but cant remember what day its on and Barcelona is an option for a day out on the bus.
Theres also some boat trips operating from the beach and a coastal path that runs from playa up towards palamos
thanks very much Simon, its cala gogo we are staying in, with siesta, we will have a 15 year old with us, but he is already making noises that it going to be is last holiday with us (yesssssssss) , what are the prices like on the site, I've hears the supermarket is ok , but the clubs drink prices are a little steep
Staff on the site are brilliant.
Best breakfast is at the Austrian bar on the way into playa from the campsite. Turn right out of the main gate and its about 20 mins walk into town although you are walking almost alongside the road for part of it, at the roundabout keep tracking along the coast and it brings you into resort, the Austrian bar is one of the first bars you come to on the left hand side. Theres also an Irish Bar a bit further along.
Theres free wifi on cala gogo at reception, pool and beach bar and you can pay extra to get wifi in your lodge on arrival.
Theres also free wifi in resort at Dinos ice cream parlour, Mc Donalds, and pp's amusement park
I think from memory we were paying about 12euros for a jug of sangria and 3euros for local beer at the pool bar so not too bad, if your extra thirsty the do a 8 litre brewmaster of beer for 25euros
Are you in the standard lodges or a deluxe 8 ?
we're in the standard 4 lodge beefy
beefy ??? did you ever notice if there was english footy on the tvs while you were in and around the site or patja d'aro area, its just that everton are on live for 2 games while we are out there and would like to watch them in a bar
Yes they do providing it doesn't clash with la liga or anything else and also depends which channel is showing it as its not the same as UK sky channels. If you ask the bar staff they are very good, they also generally put up details of matches they are going to be showing The Irish bar and cactus bar opposite in resort also have big screen sports.
When are you going ?
we go on 22nd august , cant wait, looks like there could be some good snorkelling to be had there, we are really looking forward to it, 2 weeks of sun , bbq and cold bottles of mahout or estrella
Looks like we will be there for a few days when you are. We go on Tues 18th via Disney, so get to gogo 20th and leave on the Thurs after you arrive
nice one simon
