THanks for the tips
Mark i couldnt understand why other people got a quote for a Polo at 15 cypriot pounds a day and we were quoted 20, we did like you did emailed them for a quote and we did not play them off one from the other intially.....and as i said we only asked why it was so different, we havent played them off one over the other....
What you ought to bear in mind is that some of us are already repeat business. My £15 is 3 years old now. The emails I get back say "same as last year". Obviously that will not last for ever.
Mark
I just thought 20 cypriot pounds a day was a little steep when you add on the insurance for the north as well.
I suggested that people may like to look at a topic started by one of the Mod/Admin team giving some information about the role they play in ensuring that HT complies with the law.

When posting about a complaint some of the posts we read sail a bit close to the wind in the way they describe TOs and airlines.
Should one of them decide to take action then comments posted such as "X lied to me" or "Y rip people off" could be considered defamatory and as such could cause HT to be closed down.
Calls to name and shame are another danger area. If they can prove your comments caused them to lose business, they could seek to recover money from whoever made the allegations if they could not prove their comments conclusively.
There are always two sides to every story or complaint. With respect to those who post we only hear your side of the problem.
We may agree that your problem is one of concern and feel you have not been treated fair. But we can only express our own personal opinions based on what is posted. In some cases we are able to assist due to our own occupations or experience, but we invariably advise anyone with a problem to contact Ros who is the professional.

.I fail to see why anyone should assume that what I have said is aimed at them
My goodness! How I wish I hadn't mentioned anything about 'name and shame'. Sorrree
Can we pleeeaassee lighten up and go back to our usual friendly and extremely useful chats ?
Pretty please???
Cheers,
Jinty
Well hopefully this will lighten the mood, had an email tonight and the lady has now agreed that there was a problem as she realised that the site had put one of the pages of her advert in the wrong order and therefore we had been given the wrong description. We have been told that a cheque will be in the post tomorrow, thank goodness. We now think we may have had found suitable accomodation as well after a long search today. One thing if anybody knows of buses that go from Paphos to Kyrenia or nearabouts we were thinking this might be better than hiring a car to take across the border i would be grateful for suggestions.
Wonderful!!!!
Excellent news ellieeh
(BTW the lady who was going to charge us for a week at the August price for one day in August - was going to let us off with £50 - erm no thanks )
We did a day trip to Kyrenia from Paphos by coach and really enjoyed it. Booked it down on the seafront, it was about CYP12 each in the winter. You cross the border in Nicosia, then a lovely drive through the mountains, on to Bellapais for a short while, before dropping down to Kyrenia. Didn't get that long there, just time for lunch and a walk round, but on the whole I would say it was worth it for a first trip to the area.
I know you want to go to the North, but maybe when you are in Cyprus you can ask the car hire firms that are around, others must do it.
Good luck and better that this came to light here, so you could sort it out.
Jay
If I do book a car with them, do you think it would make any difference to the price they offer me if I book them in the UK or wait until I'm in Cyprus?
Thanks for any advice.
Which resort are you staying in?
Hi. Paphos - at the Louis Phaethon hotel.
It can be found here - http://www.holidaytruths.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t=88877
I used to run a hire operation for Ford - if anyone has a query then I will try to answer it.

http://www.easyrentacarltd.com/. Easy were the cheaper and we booked with them. We were perfectly happy with them, as others on this forum seem to have been.
Like you I worry about what would happen if we broke down, so I emphasised this point. They were very reassuring, giving me numbers to call if that should happen. (However it didn't, so I can't actually report on how well they lived up to this promise!)
Their office is just off the seafront road.
Hermol - You really need to read the sticky at the top of this forum on car hire. The impression I get about Petsas is that people's opinion of them seems to vary according to which office they use! We went to Paphos last year. I got quotes from Petsas and from Like you I worry about what would happen if we broke down, so I emphasised this point. They were very reassuring, giving me numbers to call if that should happen. (However it didn't, so I can't actually report on how well they lived up to this promise!)
Their office is just off the seafront road.
Hopefully we are near enough sorted and fingers crossed we fly from Gatwick to Paphos on Thursday..... Off to Gatwick tomorrow afternoon.....
Be a huge relief to get there need a holiday even more now its been so hetic with one thing or another these last few days!
Have a great time.......... I'm sure you will!!!!
