has it changed much
It's changed so much that you may not even recognise it Houses all around, a new pool, new bar, accommodation, a dining room/kitchen refit, new coastal walkway between it and the sea etc etc
It's very nice; I commented as we went past that it has had an awful lot of money spent on it
Edit: Just spotted it now has a website
http://www.polyxenia.com/
thanks for that i have seen the website, hope its not been ruined, wonder if nick is still there.
This is my first post. I've been lurking for years but having spent mant an happy night at the Polyxenia over the past 8 years, I can actually offer up a reply on this thread.......we got back from Pernera yesterday.
The area has changed masively over the time my family have been going to Pernera....some things are better some not. On the plus side, the coastal path is a massive improvement, opening up easier access to such as Zaffiros and another couple of similar establishments between Pernera and Protaras. it won't be long before this stretch of the coast is fullly developed.
The building of villas/apartments etc. goes on unabated..... I struggle to see who is going to buy them all but I guess the developers know what they are doing...?
As far as the Polyxenia is concerned it reopened last year after massive redevelopment and we watched the various forums for information and photos etc. with keen interest........ the resturant is similar to before and the meals and service are as good as ever. There is a new section which is seperate from the resturant and can be used for weddings etc. whilst not disturbing the main resturant. The down side is the Kiosk........ it now phsically resembles some sort of space age artifact - completely out of character and not the same thing at all as the old Kiosk which was Nicko's domain and the source of very reasonably priced cocktails and fun nights...... Nicko's still there but the place has changed beyond recognition - instead of it being the default place to meet up with others in our party after the evening meal, I doubt we went more than 3 times....... there's no 'Happy Hour' these days, so whilst the location is as good as ever I'm afraid we all thought it had lost some of it's charm. Please give it a go though and let us know if it's only us that think it's not what it used to be.........
thanks for that, has the price of drinks shot up? used to love going in the litle kiosk at night and trying the different cocktails, will ty it when we go back in october.
These days it's more a pool bar than a kiosk.........
My observations generally are that no prices had increased anywhere in Pernera from last year. (A wild generalisation I accept...) It was moderately busy in most places but quiet in others. Best beer price was €2.00 for Keo/Carlsberg/Leon, meals @ €13.00 ish for a good quality 3 course set menu. We were generally eating as an adult family of 4 so bills in the €50 - €60 were the norm for evening meals, we were happy with these prices........ Despite the massive refurb the Polyxenia was still competitively priced for evening meals etc.
