poor you
We went to Kerala a few years ago with Goaway... they were fine, they are long established and reliable.
just got back on saturday
booked with goaway - they were fine - they even upgraded us to premium class on flight back (we think it was them anyway) - that was bliss compared to cattle class (with monarch of course)
to be honest did'nt reckon much to the colonia de bragansa - bit run down and scruffy in my opinion - AND definitely watch out for them putting you in the reception block - which is basically where locals live as far as we could tell - we asked to be moved stright away but the had no rooms for a day or so - dont letthem fob you off - but diont let me puit you off - if yoyu are like us it will just be a base and a bed to sleep in - so much there to see and do it does'nt really matter
colonia is however is in a good central location - we sat watching the world go by at the red lion pub just up the access road many an evening - wish we were back there
hope you have a great trip
rob
The Colonia de Braganza is OK but not as good as the Nizmar, although the location is more central. Also I think only certain rooms have aircon, ours didn't, and you will probably need it at this time of year. We stayed during Christmas 2004 and it was a bit sticky at night with just a ceiling fan. I would be inclined to call the hotel and ask if they can allocate you a room with a/c.
I think I did a review on this hotel but it may have been for another site. Sorry Fiona, I will check and copy it to here if I haven't already.
I'll let you off katie! ( did you just post or has it been there all the time?)
Goaway have got to be the worst company on earth to deal with, i would certainly never travel again with them or recommend them to anyone.
Yikes, I just hope my tickets are at the airport in the morning!!!
We stayed at the Colonia de Braganza last Easter. I would echo others' reviews. We had a really large room up on the top floor with two balconies. You wouldn't describe the hotel as smart or luxurious and I suspect it doesn't get as many repeat guests as the Nizmar does...but we found it to be a great base for getting to know Calungute. We didn't use the pool or have breakfast but found all the staff to be pleasant and the location was great. It is down a small lane near the roundabout at the Tibetan market. Little traders along that lane were friendly as we walked down to the main road. It is a ten minute walk down to the beach steps (very busy part of Calungute beach). Plenty of tut tut drivers and taxis around if you want to explore. We actually preferred the area to Candolim and it's easy to visit some real quality restaurants in the Baga area as well. It isn't actually very far at all from the Nizmar. I am sure you will have a GREAT time! Report back!
Thanks for the info Janey, I have just phoned the airport, my tickets are there, phew....
MK61 - don't worry about anything now! Have a great time and if the hotels not too great - who cares - how much time are you going to spend in it - enjoy!
Sorry for scaring you
Sure you will have a good time. However if you do get issues just be prepared to resolve them yourselves and to not even bother wasting your time trying to communicate with them on your return.
Well I'm back everything went well!
