just had an e mail from Easy jet to say they are looking to close it's operations from East Midlands Airport, oh dear what a shame had some really good deals in place for next year, don't know yet what will happen to these bookings !!! they say a decision will be made at end of December after consultations with staff are complted.
Reply
They are also cutting operations by 20% at Luton with quite a few job losses.

they are also still taking money for 2010 flights from East Midlands, I tried again this morning , no notice or blocking on the web site, surely this is a bit naughty ?
Reply
also read in todays Manchester Evening News that Easyjet are also consulting on a reduction of flight crew at Belfast, Bristol, Newcastle & Stansted Airports. Doesn't sound good for folks involved, losing their jobs

Guys,

We've been to Albufeira loads over the years and are stringly considering buying a property in Tavagueria, near the Old Town. Can anyone give me some hints and tips as to what I should and should not be doing or direct me to a site for new buyers?

Thanks for your help.

Hi Michelle,
Tavira itself is lovely.
Hop on the bus to Monte Gordo (the train station is a bit far out from the centre). It's got a beautiful prom and walk along the beach. ( you get the bus from the main road and not at the bus station). You can also take the same bus along to Vila Real which is the last town before Spain. On the same route is Vila Nova de Cacela which I believe has an old castle but I've not visited it yet. Altura also has a lovely beach.
A 10 min bus ride from the bus station will take you to the village where I'll be staying (Cabanas) from 17th Sept - 1st Oct.
You can also take the train anywhere from the east to the west. Olhao is the next nearest big town to Tavira and worth a look as is the small village of Fuseta which I think still has a market on a Thursday but I'm not sure which dates. You can also visit Faro one day by train. These are all within easy reach without a car and not too long to get there.
I'm sure you will enjoy it and if I can help you with anything else, just ask.

Are you able to go to Albuferia for the day from Tavira. Would love to take my parents who have never been to show them the old town.

Michelle,
You can get the train to Albufeira but the train station is a bit outside the town and you will have to get a taxi into the town but between 4 of you it should not cost too much. We did it a few years ago but remember it wasn't too expensive. It was no big hassle either as there were a couple of taxis waiting there when we got off the train
Maybe Cubsur can't point you in the right direction regarding travel to Albufeira.

I have the train times on my website at

http://www.algarvebus.info/006.htm

A taxi from Albufeira station into the old town shouldn't cost more than about 8 Euros and if there isn't one waiting phone the number posted inside the station ticket office and one will be sent.

I suggest the 1013 from Tavira with a change at Faro will get you to Albufeira at 1127. Sit on the left hand side for the best views!

(BTW, this is only four minutes between trains in Faro, so if you are twitchy about missing a connection and having to wait two hours for the next one, catch the 0913 (except Saturdays and Sundays) instead. The trains do usually wait for one another unless the delay is huge. You can have a quick wander around Faro Marina which is just down the road.)

The last train back is 2201, so you can have a really long day out if you want.

Return fare on the train is €9,60 if my reading is correct.

I hear the weather there is lovely just now. Can't wait to get some sunshine.
Anyone else going to be in the area over the next 2 weeks?
