Is there anyone here to answer my question?(Delhi)

Hi everyone it has been really quiet lately, sometimes I come on this site to see that no one has posted, have we all gone abroad to places anew?

Anyway my question is that I am going to Goa in November, for ten weeks, It started off with 2, then 3 then 4 then 6 then 8 now ten weeks we just cant get enough of the place, whilst we are there we want to go to Delhi, for one week in January with a couple that we have met over there, they come from Manchester.

I know how to book the air tickets, at the moment the cheapest we have is 58 pounds return from Goa to Delhi, but it will get cheaper, so we havent booken it yet. What I want to know is where is the best hotel, guest house, or B and B to stay so that we are near to the Taj and also near to the shopping ect ect. None of us have been to Delhi before so we are venturing into unknown grounds.

Any advice will be really appreciated.

Hi Gayle we are going to Delhi at the end of January,and then
flying down to Goa with Kingfisher airways they are not the
cheapest but the times are good and no hanging about in Mumbai.
I think you should stay in Delhi and book a tour to see the Taj Mahal
we have booked with Culture Tours,going by train from Delhi and back
the same night,next morning we have a tour of New.Deli,have a look at the site it may interest you.

You will not find accommodation in Dehli near the Taj Mahal ,as it is 200kms away, so best look for central location.
I'm sure others who have stayed in Dehli will come up with some ideas

hello tomitma

my partner and i spent two weeks touring the north in march/april. i'm going to add a trip report for our 5 months in india by the end of this week, so have a look for more detail then.

we had our own driver for two weeks, made it all very easy and the cost very reasonable - i can give you their details

delhi - india gate, red fort, other places to visit, good shopping (central cottage industries...don't be fooled into going anywhere else).

agra - this is where the Taj Mahal is (stay at the holiday inn)

- check out spice jet for goa-delhi (don't fly air deccan, though don't think they do that route)
- where we stayed in delhi......http://www.dolphinn.in/ ...despite our issue here (see review on hotel reviews), we'd still recommend this hotel.

with a week you can easily do the Golden Triangle tour- we are doing it in 5 days. Have a look at my thread here
