I booked a villa in La Herradura through the web site rentinspain.co.uk back in April. I paid the owner of the villa the full amount for two weeks of £1600. With just two weeks before I leave I still had not received directions to the villa and the owner of the villa has stopped replying to my emails. I contacted the web site owner who ahs been marvelous. Not so much in getting in touch with the villa owner because he has ignored their emails too. But he did help me to find another property and negotiated a discounted price with the owner in Lake Vinuela.
Apparently my experience is rare. I did mange to track this owner down via another site he advertisies on but they did not have the decency to reply to my emails either. All I can say is that after all the trauma I cannot wait to have my holiday. But without the owner of rentinspain I would not have had this so a big thank you to him. However, it has not put me off booking somewhere next year, but will be a little more careful.
I do believe that most property owners are genuine and go out of their way to deliver what they have promised. If anyone is feeling put off by this awful experience, please don't be. A genuine owner will be happy to answer lots of questions, give references or even show copies of utility bills.
I hope your holiday turns out to be fantastic.
