Were at the BHC our fifth stay there over the years.

Woolfie,
I heard a rumour a couple of weeks back that the BHC is going to close down later on this year for good! So if you are going there you had better try and confirm if this rumour is true or not as it could be your last stay there!

Also I'm afraid that there are foreign students staying at that complex. Hope they behave!

That would make sense, as it does not seem to be available after November this year on Travel republic etc.Which I thought was odd and assumed that they would be refurbishing it (long overdue), and does not really fit in with the profile of Island hotels anymore. We have seen a few students there before but not loads and behaved, so should be ok.
Shame if it does close though, it's a hotel that we say on the first night "why did we come here again?" then on the second night we remember why, it's like a good book with a tatty cover

Perhaps Trevor Z can confirm what the plans are If he still pops on here? Have not seen him in a long time though?

Can't remember where I found it now, but anyway it was only speculating that it is closing, however I can still book it in summer 2008! so I think it is just a rumour as it closed last year for the Winter period only.

Hello all, the couple who live across the road to us have just come back from a two week holiday in Malta, this was there first time there and enjoyed it so much they are going to go back, the one thing they did bring up was the problem with the students but this did not put them of, so you say if you wanted that they love Malta

Does that mean that you hate it now Dave ?

Hello Sliema2,
I have never said I hated Malta, I have though got a bit feed up with it, not so much Malta itself more the way it has gone over the last few visits.
I have read up on the history of the place more than any other place I have ever been, the place itself has that sort of magic that makes me want to go back for more, like yourself, in my mind though its a bit like Greece, great place but left to go to rack and ruin and and they put up the price of entry to museums, like the Grand Masters Palace if you look at the walls with the old paintings they are going rotten with paint flaking off, the suits of armour are going rusty to name a few things.
Then there is the dust on the streets, dog poo all over, fumes from the cars and busses, building works all over the place, I could go on for hours even the hotels are mostly two stars below what they say they are. So do I hate it or do I love it, alas poor yoryck that is question.

Hi Dave good reply mate although I of course see Malta very differently than you do, however you write so well about it that it's pretty obvious that you kind of like it and are very interested by it, I really hope that you and Mrs Rh re-kindle your liking of Malta before too long as you are the sort of people that Malta needs as visitors.

Absolutely agree with you Sliema2, the real holidaymaker is the type of visitor required, people that are prepared to go out beyond their hotel / resort and visit the rest of the island(s).

To many people visit Malta then stay in the one area and don't go to visit or take any interest in the huge amount of history or heritage that they could experience on both Malta and Gozo.
The islands have such a lot more to offer than just a few days on the beach or hotel pool.

Hurry back the real holidaymaker :wave

Hi Graham I would rather be clubbed unconcious with my own gibletts than have to spend an entire holiday lying round a pool listening to Wayne and Sharon from Billericay complaining about every damn thing that Malta does or doesn't have to offer (or indeed anywhere else for that matter) in the 12 years that Mrs Sliema2 and I have been together I can prouly say that in all that time we have spent about 20 mins sunbathing in all the holidays that we have had, and the mere thought of never leaving ones hotel to explore fills me full of dread, going back to sunbathing Mrs Sliema2 once said to me on the beach "Have you seen my flip-flops ?" to which I replied "yes love loads of times now put your top back on"
