Am staying in Viva Menorca for 2 weeks in June with my wife and 2 children.
Was just wondering if anybody who has stayed there would advise contacting the hotel before leaving and requesting a certain area/room/floor within the hotel.
I've done this before when going abroad, requesting a pool view etc but wondered where was the best place to ask for - my family is young so I'd be looking for a quiet area with a nice view if possible.
Any advice much appreciated.
Thanks.

Hi, as you haven't had any other replies thought I'd post my thoughts although that said I haven't actually stayed at these apartments but do know their location in the resort -drove past there nearly everyday of our holiday. They are on the outskirts of Cala'n Bosch just as you drive into the resort from the airport (right by the waterpark), so are in a pretty quiet area anyway. Not too far from the marina though and they do have a few shops and a restaurants close by. We dropped off there on our transfer last year and you'll be pleased to know they looked stunning, not one of those that you think 'Thank goodness we're not staying there!' As I recall the apartments are seperated by a very small road with one section being the main one with the pool and reception. Pool area looked lovely, we went in August and when we dropped off it was around 9pm and it looked pretty quiet around the main areas. To be honest I think you'd be ok wherever you are, especially in June, although you might get some road noise in the ones seperate from the main area.
Hope this helps a little until you get a reply from someone that's been. I'm sure you'll love it though

Just re read your post and you say you're after a nice view, I'd be inclined to ask for a room with a pool view then.
Thanks for taking the time to post even though you haven't stayed. Alot of useful information there. Glad to know the appartments look nice.
Thanks again.
Thanks again.
Well fingers crossed it is OK as we go on 3 July. We would also be pleased to hear if anyone can recommend a particular block etc.
Cheers

We're going to the Viva Menorca for 10 days at the beginning of June. A party of 13!
We sent an e-mail to the hotel last week asking if our apartments could be close to each other but haven't received a reply yet.
We haven't been that early before. Can anyone tell us what the weather has been like in June before now?
Cheers Mark.

First time I went to Cala'n Bosch (2002) was the last 2 weeks of June and found it just as hot as August was last year. Would always take a light jacket or cardi though for the evenings just in case. Have you checked http://www.wunderground.com ? It's a brilliant site as you can go to the Trip Planner and key in your dates and it'll give you an expected forecast for that time based on averages from previous years. You can also check back historical records for the last 10 years.
With regards your email, if you don't get a reply I'd try again about 2 weeks before you go as I've been told that's around the time the hotels allocate the rooms.
Have a fab time

thinking of booking viva for aug 2010 as we have found it all inclusive for a great price. my only issue being is that we have a 13 year old son and a little concerned there may not be enough similar aged children on site to play with. we usually go to the first choice holiday villages where he spends most of the day and evening at the kids club but the prices for 2010 are really putting us off. we have spent an evening at the viva and it did seem very nice and is getting good reviews. decisions, decisions.

hi any one back from holidays staying in viva menorca golng in august with two kids 2 and6 any information about the place and surounding wound be great help thanks
We got back on Friday after 2 weeks there. Was staying with my wife and 2 children (7 & 3). All had a lovely time. Viva Menorca is a lovely place and all staff are very hard working and friendly.
The animation team were excellent and my daughter (7) was involved in the many activities they have on every day. There is a mini disco every night at 8:30 which the little ones love and then an act afterwards - some of these were good, some not so.
About a 10 minute walk to the marina and beach - we did find the resort expensive though and the hotel were offering the option to go all inclusive for 43 euros per adult per day (children under 12 were free) so we did this for our second week and found it was good value for money.
My only very minor criticisms would be that the appartments are fairly small (however, we were hardly in them!) and sometimes in the night, it can take some time to get a drink at the bar as they seemed a little understaffed. As I say, these are only minor criticisms and I wouldn't hesitate recommending it to others.
We're actually thinking of booking again for next year as we all enjoyed it so much. I'm sure you'll have a great time.

thanks mickc23 for the information good tohear some update information on the apartment i have hear that the resort is expensive do you think this is cos of the value of the pound i am from ireland so use to the euro do you think i will find expensive or just the same and is the food and drink good at viva the all inclusive sound like good value
Food is good - breakfast is a buffet style with pretty much everything you could think of. Lunch is from the poolside cafe which has a very good selection also and evening meal is also buffet style. I found the food to be very nice although does get a bit samey after a while but I suppose this is to be expected. You may not find the prices too expensive if you are used to the euro but I spent over £1500.00 and it would have been more than this if I hadn't gone a.i. in the 2nd week. Also, the only 'trip' we went on was to aqua park in Cala n' Forcat so this was mainly on food and drink which I think is quite alot.
Hi ,
I'm thinking of booking this for 2010 and have some specific questions to anyone who has been recently
The first choice website says that pool towels are available. Is this true as it helps a lot if we don't have to take towels.
Also, is there ice cream in the day on AI for the children, what is the food like for them.
Is there a huge rush for sunbeds?
Sorry lots of questions!! But thanks in advance xx

You can hire pool towels at Viva Menorca because I saw a n umber of people doing it. I'm not sure if there is a cost though - I'm pretty sure you have to pay some sort of deposit.
The only ice creams included in A.I. are the scoops (vanilla, strawberry, chocolate etc) which you can have in a cone or a little cup if you prefer. All of the other pre-packaged ice creams are not included (and are more expensive than in the UK).
My kids found the food fine. My daughter isn't a fussy eater though and my son is happy with pasta and tomato sauce (which there was plenty of!). There's also the usual chicken nuggets, burgers, chips etc if they would prefer.
There are loads of sunbeds and we never had a problem although we went quite early in the season (19th June). You could turn up in the middle of the afternoon and still get one when we went. Only note on this would be that near the end of our stay, I did start to notice that people were reserving sunbeds more and more regularly so this may become a problem as the resort gets busier.
We were really happy with the hotel and are thinking of booking again for next year.

Lovely, thanks - I know First Choice do this property but who else? I like to have a few providers to try & get them to price match if I can....
Thanks xx
