I have just returned from a week in the amazing small city of Merida, in Extremadura. This town will be unkown to most of you but it certainly isn't to the Spanish who are the main visitors to this place, why? Because Merida is a UNESCO World Heritage site due to its amazing Roman remains. If you have ever visited Ephesus in Turkey and liked what you saw there then believe me, the sights in this town leave Ephesus standing like a poor relation, and what is more there are no crowds at all.
Probably best of all was the fact that in the week i was there i only heard 3 other couples who were native English speakers.
An absolute gem and an absolute must!
