Hi,
I want to suprise my boyfriend at Christmas with a Snowbarding holiday to Austria. I am thinking about Niederau, but have never been snowboarding or skiiing and need some advice.
Is it best to book extra's such as equipment and liftpasses before you go or is it better to organise it out there?
Is it a good idea to take lessons?
Do they need to be booked before you go?
What's Niederau like?
Anyone who's got any useful information please reply!!!!!!
Thanks,
Naomi
We have been to Niederau twice and are going again in January, if you are going for christmas it is the begining of the season so not much snow, last season was poor for snow everywhere so Niederau didnt have any snow in the nursery slopes.
We love it there and every time we have been we have had loads of snow we have just been lucky, we tend to go last week in January. It is a beautiful place quite a small not many shops etc... you can snowboard there though.
I book everything before we go and get a good package we have travelled with Inghams but this time with Mytravel (excellent deal), we stay at the hotel Sonnchien, my friend has stayed at the Hotel Austria and enjoyed it this was 1 minute walk away to the lifts.
Any more questions ask

I was thinking about booking the holiday for the 5th of January and the hotel Sonnschein looks very good. What are the rooms like? Also i was going to book half board, is the food good/ quite varied?
I was thinking about just booking the lift passes before hand and ( as my bf has his own snow board and boots) just sorting my board out when i get their. Is that quite easy to do in Niederau?
The Hotel Sonnschein is a really nice hotel and i personnally think it is the best in Neiderau. The rooms are big, as a family we like nice big rooms.
The Sonnschein has an old wing and new wing, we have only stayed in the old wing and these rooms are nice, when we go January we are staying in the new wing. this is ther web site
http://www.harmony-hotels.com/
If you have a look you can view some of the new wing rooms.
I would book half board if you can as i think the food could be expensive there, we went half board and we only had to buy food for lunch times and our bill at the end of the week was £200, this was food bought at the Hotel and out and about, so for four of us about the same i think over here.
You can go to the local spar and stock up on snacks and things.
The food at the hotel is lovely, you have a choice of breakfasts hot and cold, when you arrive back late afternoon they put on free apres snacks this could be soup with rolls or cakes and coffee, then evening meal is four course, with a choice of upto 4 dishes, look out for the farmers buffet very nice .
Depending who you book with you can pre book everything, we always went to the Hotel Austria for ski hire underneath them they have a great ski hire shop, but now the Sonnschien have their own so you could mail them to ask? they could sort out your passes etc....
One thing we dont snowboard so i dont know what its like to board there, try http://www.ifyouski.com also http://www.wildschoenau.com and have a look what they say about snowboarding there. Good luck
Anymore questions please ask
