Hi Baldur
Be fair! it was Sunny Beach we were at!!!
You are sooo lucky being able to get meals and beer at this knockdown price!

Hence the 'wink'.

Hardly a 'knockdown' price, Fiona - just real Bulgarian price, rather than heavily inflated resort prices.

Did I mention the Dobrich sladkarnitsa-cafe where a beer is 50 Stotinki per 500ml?

Hi Toonman,

I find "Bulgarian for English Speakers", ISBN 94-8805-69-3, pretty good, it adopts a 'teach yourself' approach via dialogues & a pronunciation CD is available - see book & CD.

Of course, the best way to learn Bulgarian is to live in a village where none of the villagers speak English.

Hi Baldur,

Thanks for that. It is true that living amongst the villagers would be a good way of learning quick, unfortunately I have allowed my better half to retire early and I must therefore work to keep her in he luxury she has become acustomed to.
Not to worry though, one day it might just occur and like yourself I may find myself joining you out there but away from the SB/GS of Bulgaria.
