...the Grand Aquarium in Icmeler.

After raising this topic in the first place it was perhaps inevitable that we ended up in accommodation that didn't seem to actually be four star!

The apartment had the smallest rooms that I've stayed in and received little sun. There was no TV in the apartment and we had to pay for air conditioning. Also had to buy our own soap, toilet paper, tea towel etc. as these were not provided. No freezer section in the fridge meant no ice cubes or ice creams in the apartment and no freezing bottles of water for the beach.

We raised these issues with the rep who nodded along in agreement confirming our comments, but she didn't appear to think anything was amiss with this being a four star apartment. I've previously stayed in three star rated accommodation that was bigger, better equipped and located.

Interestingly there was a leaflet in the apartment inviting customers to book direct with the Grand Aquarium and it appears to refer to their range of two star and three star rooms"¦

Officially Turkey does not have rating's for it's hotels, All the ratings you see are from the Tour operators perspective these are done by the company's representive and can be very very nisleading taking for instance the one above here, The only way you will find out what's in these so called 4 or 5 star properties is by asking the Travel company direct, And should these things not be available when you get to the destination then you can complain all you want to the Rep,s.

Yes rwb46, looks as though some formal regulation of these ratings is required?

The stupid thing is there were probably 3 star rated properties in Icmeler itself that would have been better for us. I can only presume they try to justify the Grand Aquarium rating because there are (somewhat overpriced) onsite facilities such as a sauna and hairdresser and a pool slide which is switched on for 15 minutes twice a day. The basic, dingy rooms felt more like two star accommodation.

Not possible to regulate other countrys Random Number outiside the Eec, Btw The sister hotel the Club Aquarium has 4 stars also from F/choice, The rooms in that place are Tiny also.
