Hi I am contemplating booking a holiday at the Esmeralda Park for August 2008. I have read mostly good reviews but I'm a little confused about the air conditioning. I have read in a review that the apartment has air-
c o n but is centrally controlled by the hotel and that when they requested the aircon to be switched on they we refused and told to open the patio door if they were hot, has anyone else experienced this? Any help would be very much appreciated
I went here Aug 2006, thigs may have changed. The mai hotel (Esmerelda) DID have aircon in the rooms. The smaller sister hotel which you could end up in (Cala Azul Garden) DID NOT you had to hire fans if they had any left.
It was very hot and I would recommend going somewhere else in Cala D'or (as it is a great resort) with aircon if you are going in August, unless you get confirmation from somebody who knows (hotel/tour operator) who can guarantee aircon in all the rooms (in writing).
Other than aircon problems a nice group of hotels separated by a small road. See reviews on here.
Cheers
Dave.
Iv'e e-mailed the hotel direct and they've quoted me a price for next year at the Esmeralda Park so I'm not sure if booking it direct will ensure that that's definately where we would end up I guess I could put the question to them. I wouldn't want to stay anywhere without aircon, have done it once in the past and it was awful .
Thanks again Dave
was at the Cala Azul Gardens in August 2007 - the best thing about the room was the airconditioning. It came on when you put your door key card in but if you put in any card (we used my Matalan card) it then stayed on all day.
I've e-mailed the Esmeralda Park direct and they've confirmed that there's aircon and that we would definately being staying at Esmeralda Park if we booked. I wouldn't want the aircon on all day, especially if we weren't in the room, we stayed in a hotel this year and we never left the aircon on though we could have done, the room soon cooled down once it was switched on :
Good news on the aircon they must have added it to all the rooms now which is good news.
Resort is great so book away I say, have a nice time.
Dave
Thanks very much Dave, happy holidays
Hi, We are thinking of booking at the Esmeralda Park with our 9 and 6 year old for June 2008. We are looking for somewhere with a good pool for the children. We have previously stayed at the Alcudia Pins in Alcudia which was great for the children. Has anyone got any advice or tips for the Esmeralda Park? Which out of the hotel blocks is best to stay in?
I have merged your post with an existing topic which may have some information.
If you put Esmeralda into the Search facility at the top of the page and select the Majorca forum it is mentioned several times in various topics.

Does any one have any opinions or advice for this complex? Are the pools good for children?
We have been to Majorca a few times now, and have never visited Cala D'or before, so any advice would be much appreciated!
Many thanks!

We stayed at the Azul Gardens, which is part of the Emeralda Complex, but it a smaller block of apartments across the road - not overlooking the beach. We were a bit disappointed when we first got here as we had been hoping for a sea view, but actually the apartments were very nice and quiet and we were able to use the facilities at the main complex is we wanted to. There is also another part of the complex which is about a 5 minute walk from the main part, which I don't think is as nice so you might want to make sure that you are in the main block. It's not actually in the centre of Cala D'Or - it's about a 15 minute walk, but there are plenty of bars and restaurants in the area. There is a lovely beach right outside the main part of the complex but there is actually a choice of about 4 beaches within easy walking distance. I'm sure you will have a great time.
Hi, we are due to go to the Esmeralda Park in August in a self catering apartment. I have just read on a review that no kettles are provided in the apartments, can anyone just confirm this for me please
You are right, there are no electric kettles in the room, but there was a stainless steel kettle/teapot which we used to boil the water in and that was fine. There was a range of good quality saucepans and a frying pan too.
If you have any other questions just let me know!
Hope you have a fab time
Hi Shezzy thanks very much for all the useful information it's much appreciated Can I just ask what block you were in? I have read that the best blocks are M,N,O. Thanks for your tip about the pool/sea view, very useful. We've booked direct and they have requested I e-mail them a couple of days before we are due there so I shall put my request in then
We were in block C which was up by the Restaurant, we could see the swimming pool but were not directly over it, and could watch the entertainment from our balcony. Blocks MNO are on one side of the pool, and if you got the rooms at the end of the blocks will have a lovely view of the pool and the sea. There are trees inbetween the blocks which are nice as you are not staring straight onto the next block, but you may find you are looking out onto a tree. Hopefully if you ask for a pool/sea view you will get a nice room!
There is a snack bar along from the pool at the top of the beach, which is lovely for a lunchtime snack - they have chicken, burgers, lasagna etc at reasonable prices, and it is lovely to sit, relax, and eat overlooking the beach and cove.
Shezzy
Thanks again shezzy, that's really useful info
