Just got back after a 2-week visit. The humidity is at record levels and the mozzies are out in force. As usual my wife got badly bitten, and I saw lots of other women with bites. Even I got bitten, which I rarely do.

Hi, I use jungle formula plug ins and we dont see one flying thing the whole time. Also Jungle formula spray, it doesnt smell very nice but the smell doesnt linger and make sure you close eyes and hold breath! Not pleasant to apply but really does work, to do your face spray into hands and rub it on.

Hope this stops you getting bitten.

Good advice above, apply an anti-bug solution to arms and legs. However, my wife has even been bitten on her back through thin clothing. I've never found the hotel room at night to be a problem, close the windows and use one of those plug-in electrical devices that you insert a square "tablet" into. The biggest problem is eating out in restaurants. Avoid eating outside where there are lots of plants or greenery around. The owners always water the entire area every day, which attracts the bugs to the low-lying and overhead plants. The bugs then come out at night to bite your legs and arms particularly, but anywhere else they can penetrate. Eat inside the restaurant away from plants, or if outside then be by the salt water of the sea. I take a garlic tablet every day as part of a vitamin regime, mozzies are supposedly repelled by garlic. Coincidence or not but I am rarely bitten. Another theory is that they are particularly attracted to blood group O, which I am not so maybe that also holds good (although not much scope for changing if you are O, just take every other precaution).
On almost every occasion when we have been bitten it's been after eating outside near plants or still water.

we went in July and were bitten to pieces

funny thing is we've been to Puerto Pollensa loads of times before and never been bitten before....

we never saw the little blighters...as Pollensa1946 says, you're OK in your room...but who wants to stay in there all evening??

incidentally we're both blood group A so that theory "bites" the dust

and the bites were small, but REALLY itchy :( and they found all the little corners where we hadn't applied the lotion we quickly bought...including biting through thin trousers etc....favouring inner arms and the panty line/thighs

good luck......
