We have just returned from the Reef Oasis Beach Resort and can highly recommend it. We stayed in a superior room (900 block) as we too had heard that some of the rooms were a little dated. Several people on the complex did comment that their room was a little shabby but there were plenty of other people who were quite happy with their rooms. It appears that each block has been built in separate stages as the design of the blocks varies.

I have not stayed at the Ghazala Gardens hotel but it is more central to Naama Bay and at a push you could walk into the centre of Naama Bay rather than relying on a taxi from the Reef Oasis. Taxis are extremely cheap, approxmately 5 to 6 pound return. :P :P

Thanks for that Sutty. Pleased to hear you enjoyed your stay as we decided to book the Reef Oasis in the end! How did you find the food there?

The food was very nice. For breakfast and lunch you had a choice of 2 restaurants that you could eat in (plus the beach snack bar), for evening meal you had a choice of 3 restaurants (all inclusive) plus the Moonlight Restuarant (which you had to pay for). We did not go to this restaurant however a couple we met in resort did and said it was very expensive (cost then £100 for a 3 course meal, bottle of wine and 2 glasses of brandy)

The choice of food was vast. Breakfast included:- cereal, yoghurts, fruit, danish pastries, croissants, waffles, omeletes, fried eggs, bacon (although not like english bacon), bread rolls, toast, jam or marmalade, cooked meats and cheeses.

Lunch included:- pizza, chicken, fish, spaghetti bolognase, pasta dishes, salad selection, fruit, cakes, plus many other items

Evening meal included:- freshly made pizzas, pasta dishes, choice of meat (beef or veal), chicken, fish dish, salad selection, fruit, cakes plus many other items.

We did not eat our evening meal in the main restaurant (next to the Piazza Bar) as the tables were mainly set out for larger groups and as there was just myself and my husband we chose the grill restaurant or the italian restaurant.

We also found that a small tip at the beginning of your holiday ensured that you got a nice table and drinks brought to your table.

In the Piazza Bar (open 24 hours) the waiters are very friendly, again a small tip and you never go without a drink.

I would highly recommend this hotel and hope that you enjoy your stay.

We will be returning to this hotel in the future but have booked to go to Mexico next year as we have travelled to egypt 4 times in the past 2 years.  :D

Netty,

Sounds lovely - will look forward to going there in February. The food was the only thing that concerned me a little and you have put my mind to rest. I will make sure we don't book the Moonlight though!

I'm sure you will have a great time in Mexico. The standard of hotels there far surpasses those in Europe - we love it there and have been to the same complex of hotels (Iberostar Paraiso) 6 times in the last 5 years - even got married there last year!
