I love driving across to Faliraki from Ixia then down the East Coast stopping off at Prassanissi then up the West Side with a stop off in Sienna,then its the mountain helter skelter,takes most of the day to do but boy is it worth it for the scenery.

Its the mountain helter skelter that scares me! We were once driving through some villages that were quite high up and noticed that some workman were staring and laughing, when we got round the bend the road had collapsed and disappeared, although they had put up a little sign about 3 feet back from the abyss. That is why its taken me about 10 years to consider facing driving very far along that coast again. We did attempt to go back up the coast that way from Prassonisi, but bottled it about 10 mins in.

Just go clockwise then, will take longer but less dramatic. I've only ventured to the bottom and top on the east side really so don't know much on the West Coast, sounds................fun.

You can always take the Pinky Ponk (gee, does my little girl love that show).

The trip along the west coast is well worth the effort. the scenery is simply stunning. Its much greener along thgis side of the island, Pine forests run right to the coast and a lot of the fruit and vegtables on Rhodes is grown along there also.
It is also more mountainous on the whole, hence the twisty roads. However the views are wonderful, especially at sunset. You can see other smaller islands such as Halki and as the sun drops behind them you get as sunset as stunning as any I've ever seen anywhere. On a clear day you can make out the Turkish coast in great detail.

I think I will def. try and brave the twisty roads this time. VillaIV, as you are local do you happen to know the names of 2 restaurants in Lardos Village? One is on a corner a bit down from the square and has trees surrounding it that are lit up at night, and sells ornaments inside. I think its opposite a bank. The other one is in the road that runs parallel on the right hand side as you walk away from the square. Its on the left side of the street, up a couple of steps and is used a lot by the locals. We really like both of these and would like to recommend them to friends but can't remember the names.

I'll try my best to help you. I think the first one you describe is Valentinas, it is just opposite the bank, near the taxi stand.
The second one is a not so clear. I have tried to work it out from your description and have two possibilities for you. The first is Roulas the second Savvas. Both are on the main road leading from Lardos Square out to the Petrol station. Savvas is used by a large number of locals and has a good reputation locally for good, cheap no frills food. Roulas is a greek/tourist type restaurant. Unfortunately I have only ever eaten in Valentinas, and another Lardos Restaurant called Good Heart, so I can't give you an opinion on the fayre that these restaturants offer, from personal experience. Valentinas however is very nice and I'm sure your friends will be very happy with it.

I think it may be Good Heart, the woman has big, bouffant hair and they run a takeaway service from memory. Thanks very much for your help.
