Hi Rachie,

We have just come back from Alcudia on Sat 29 Sept 07. It is a fantastic place for families and the beach and sea are fab so I would definitely recommend Alcudia. With regard to the hotels you chose I looked at Bellevue but when I looked on tripadvisor the reports were not so good with negative reports on food and cleanliness, although looking at it from the outside it does look nice but you are a distance from the beach and next to mountains. The area there is buzzing though. A friend from work stayed at the Lagomonte and said it was good and its situated a few miles from the port (I'm sure she said). Don't know about the other hotel. We stayed at the Iberostar Cuidad Blanca 4 star all inclusive. They were brilliant especially for kids. The hotel is clean, staff friendly, food excellent and right on the beach. If you want more info email me.

Good luck

Hi Rachie

We stayed at the Lagamonte a few years ago and had no complaints. The food was good and the entertainment team put in a lot of effort. The hotel was spotless all through and the reception staff were English who were very friendly.

Whilst we were there a family had moved from the Jupiter as it was so bad. We were in the Marti six years ago and would never go back to that complex again.

Have a look on google earth you will see all 3 hotels and you can see were they are and how central they are to everything the juniper is right next to the water park more towards the mariner side of alcudia. the lagomonte is not far from the bellvue its sort of in the middle of the two and the bellvue is right on the strip. going by reports on a few sites the lagomonte sounds good then the juniper not keen on the bellvue we stayed next to it when we were in alcudia and it looked like a prison camp to me

It really depends what sort of holiday you like.
I've syayed at Jupiter/Saturno and to be honest it wasn't really for me, but that's not to say there's anything wrong with it, just way too busy for my liking.
If you like all day entertainment (sports, quizes, games etc) and caberet style entertainment in the evening then you'll love it. The entertainment team were very professional and some of the acts were of a high standard.
If you're looking for something like Butlins but in the sunshine then go there, if you want at least some peace and quiet then avoid it.

Just come back from above after 2weeks on 8 oct 07

Me and wife are 50years old went with daughter and son-inlaw early 30s
taking our first and only grandson 13 months,we went along to help out (IE baby sitters) like a lot of grandparents had done.

The hotel complex is approx 30 min walk to marina but there is a free bus every half hour, bus always turned up.

the spanish waiters/ restaurant staff ect were the best 10/10
food was 10/10 as well, never missed any breakfasts as they cater for english tastes.

Drinks were fine, spanish shorts good measures given never had to queue long for drinks pop for kids was self sevice.
try the sangria very nice.
Plenty of activities for the kids
one big swimming pool,3 smaller ones plenty of sunbeds, but the english were putting the towels on best ones the night before, rained three nights while we were there. shame about towels getting soaked.
Change travellers cheques in alcudia we were getting 141 euro to £100 cheque. 136 in the hotel.
The down sides for me and family were.

The hotel could do with a make over bathrooms bedrooms were showing there age broken tiles yellow stains in toilets/bath. all fittings well worn.
with a hotel for families the noise was very bad kids running up and down corridors shouting and screaming, i have never heard so many doors BANG shut in all my life one every five minutes on average.
I would ask for a high floor 9 is highest as most youngsters seem to be on the low floors.
if you are used to kiddy noise then i am sure you will love it sorry to to say but we wont be going back only because of the noise.
daughter tried a couple of chinese restaurants gran china was best its on sea front near marina.
The pub across road from hotel sell john smiths i drink bitter 3 euros
take your fishing rod there was plenty fishing the nearby lakes.

Any Qs just ask

thanks all for your replies :)
to be honest,no we dont go in for the whole entertainment thing

in fact this will be our first package holiday !

we tend to hire apartments and book flights separately

but this holiday will be courtesy of Mr Tesco with clubcard deals   with Cosmos

think the Lagomonte is winning at the moment

looked at the Iberostar Playa De Muro Village, and it was coming out at nearly 4k for 7 nights HB

the Lagomonte is £2400 for 7 nights AI

alternatively we could go S/C

how expensive is it to eat in Alcudia ?

any feedback on the following :

Apartments Eden Alcudia
Aparthotel Paraiso De Alcudia sounds good "Superbly located on Alcudia's sandy beach"

Apartments Viva Alcudia Sun Village this sounds fab for us too !?

I would recomend the Viva Tropic, we have stayed in quite a few hotels and apartments in Alcudia including Lagotel and the Bellvue complex and this was by far the best. Check the hotel reviews section and you will see loads of good comments.
