Hello all
Just a query, I know the 'visa' subject has been exhausted
HOWEVER...
last night and read on the Libra website that:
The Egyptian Government Has Introduced
A Departure Tax To Be Paid By All Pax
Leaving From Any Egyptian Airport Of
Approx 50egl, £5 Sterling Or 7 Euros
Per Passenger. It Is The Responsibility
Of Passengers To Pay At The Airport.
This Cannot Be Pre Collected Or Paid
On Your Behalf By The Rep.
any ideas if this is true? I am treating it with caution since they also say:
Visas Are Required For All Visits To
Egypt,for British Passport Holders
Have Libra got it right or are they pulling a fast one
Thankyou
According to Worldwide Directory website it says that departure tax is £(E) 21 payable in local currency.
came back Thursday, didnt have to pay any tax at all. Flew out of Taba
Note - did not see any loos at the airport once in the 'final' departure lounge (but didn't ask staff), so don't go through too early in case your flight is delayed long time!
Hi, has anyone who has just returned from Sharm had to pay the £10 departure tax Libra Holidays have quoted on the paperwork for our May holiday? Thanks
I came back on 2nd January with Libra and nobody paid the tax but did have it ready in case I had to. Have a great holiday and just have the money handy in case they do start asking.
NOPE ! came back sunday and not asked to pay anything i didnt know anything about it
just checking our tickets, is there any departure tax in egypt?
Hi
thanks for the reply
When we went in January we were told we would have to pay a departure tax but we were not asked for it. Hope this helps.
We've never had to, not even heard that you do.

No tax. But you do have to fill in an exit visa simillar to the one you complete on entry. You need to fill it in before going through passport control. Well this was the case for Sharm airport anyway.
Cheers,MrsMac
Have just dug out paperwork from Jan 05 hol to Coral Hilton that was booked with Libra and on the 'Special Info' - It states -
"The Egyptian Government as introduced a departure tax to be paid pay all pax leaving from any Egyptian Airport of approx 50 EGL. 5 Sterling or & Euros per passenger. It is the responsibility of passengers to pay at the airport. This cannot be pre collected or paid on your behalf by the Rep".
We didnt pay it nor were we asked to pay it at Taba. Perhaps the Government has had a change of mind? Maybe Swiss will be better informed to provide advice?
Really do nt know on that one. I have never paid any tax and have never heard of anyone paying it but yes there was all this talk - if implemented then maybe it is included in the ticket price.
what made me ask the question is that on the tickets it actually reads, you may be liable to pay tax on arrival or departure from the airport in the red sea. i do not remember seeing that on other tickets.
Came back from sharm in sept, didnt pay departure tax
xxSBxx
Have any of you heard about this---------------I got a letter this morning from the TO stating that as from 1st Jan 2007 there will be a departure tax ofbetween £4-£10 sterling and the cost will be confirmed locally!!!!!!!!!!!! I don't know whether that means UK or Sharm!!!!!!!!!
