I have been hollidaying in France for eight years and for the last three years I have been going twice a year, once in June for a fortnight and then again in August/September for a fortnight. Each time for various reasons the most suitable crossing for us has always been Plymouth to Roscoff.
It has always been a source of frustration to us, and to most people we have met while travelling, that the cost of the ferry was more than the cost of the campsite. We had often heard rumours that the French government were putting pressure on BF to drop their prices but dont know if there was any btruth in that. Anyway to my point, this years ferry crossings cost us £570 for the June trip and £470 for the Aug/Sept trip, last week I had an e-mail to say that the BF prices for 2008 were out so I went to book my trips for next year and lo and behold each trip is the same price of £363 and that is for more or less the same dates as last year and in the same price bands. In short if you have avoided these crossings in the past due to the cost, have a look, I think you will be surprised.

Sometimes life just doesn't seem fair!!
I haven't heard that the French government are putting pressure on BF to reduce prices, but I wouldn't be surprised if they are trying to encourage visitors to France to use them instead of Eurostar and the Shuttle ...
