Hi everyone,
Only 5 weeks to go and after some advice on must haves in Goa. I read somewhere that it is advisable to take your own lock/key to use on your safety deposit. Any other similar thought
Helen yes it was me who said to take your own wee lock and key its good to have your own one with you ....we take our own tea bags and a jar of coffee...bring a thermal mug its does you for a good size cupa in the mornings ..it also does you for your drinks at the pool or beach shack it will also keeps the flies away form your drinks cus the lid is on ...dont worry about ice in your drinks in goa it is fine ....bring little speakers to plug into you MP3 and thats the music sorted out for the room.....colleen
1) bandages, iodine etc. (if you are going to ride a bike).
2) your favorite painkillers:))
3) tablets for reducing any unwanted stomach and bowel activity.
The latter tablets could be the most useful while being there because of the spicy and sometimes not enough clean Indian food. Also many people suggest to have a special bactericide gel to wash the hands before eating.
You can get all your 1st aid stuff from any chemist out there, the tablets are a lot cheaper and if you tell the chemist your symptoms he will know whats best for you.As regards mugs, coffee ect you can get it all there all the usual brands Nescafe ect, the thing to remember is your weight allowance for your luggage. Last year I took cheese slices because there's only so many ways to try eggs for brekky, and my mrs took jam because there's no way jam should be as orange or as pink as the jam there (its illuminous) The most important things to take are an open mind and your new H/T wristband...have a great holiday....Keith
Essential for first time - take with you a sense of adventure, a love for mankind, an open frame of mind. The material things don't matter - you can buy most of them out there.
sharon
Lock and Key - You can buy ones in Goa, save having to carry it... Any Hardware shop will sell them...
Teabags / Coffee - If you like a particular brand then OK, although Nescafe and Tetley are avilable here....
Thermal Mugs - Also available here...
Mp3 player & Speakers - Yes, wouldn't go anywhere without music! :o)
bandages, iodine - Good idea, but only useful if you're going to carry them with you everywhere, these are avilable in all chemists, although bandages are always as good over here...
painkillers - buy here, more than likely cheaper!
tablets for reducing any unwanted stomach and bowel activity - again you can probably buy here cheaper
Agree with KJF - Cheese, Jam, dilute pop, bacon, sausages are probably good things to bring if you might miss them in two weeks (if not for yourself then for me! :o)
Also agree with Candybabe - A positive calm mind to deal with the beggers etc, just chill', it's a much easier way to put up with the hassle - ask where they are from, it's nice to talk... Sense of adventure - don't stick by the pool, go out and explore - try the buses - don't live in a taxi, walk don't just stay on one beach..
Also passport and visa might be handy!
bandages, iodine - Good idea, but only useful if you're going to carry them with you everywhere, these are avilable in all chemists, although bandages are always as good over here...
painkillers - buy here, more than likely cheaper!
I can vouch for that
Suncream - I can only seem to find factor 15's over in Goa, is the suncream the same quality as back home?
I always take suncream from the UK, as id never put my health at risk..
My son is very young so i get him factor 50+, which i can never find in Goa so i take my own.
Also, whats that total sunblock? p20, or something like that?
