We went last April on mini & junior rugby tour & were going again this April (18th - 21st if you want to avoid 200 mini/junior rugby players & their families).

Set on the rocky beach, but excellent sand at Minehead which isn't far, the town is lovely and not just Butlins. The sea front has had a bit of a facelift. Fantastic Cream teas on the right in the main shopping street going away from Butlins, small place with stenciled flowers on it.
Doniford is near to Village of Watchet where the steam railway stops. There's a small museum and a few little shops inc Co-op for supplies. More shops at Williton.
Dunster castle near Minehead is nice to visit too.
If you go up & over the moors there a little village with it's counter balance hillside trams, can't remember if it's Porlock or Lymouth sorry.

Actual camp isn't bad, well set out. all caravans are within easy walking distance to the Venue which has arcade, swimming pool ( not deep but no flumes ), bar restaurant & take away there's also an outside decked area, but you can't get out this way to get to the park, go carts and shop-you have to go all the way back through the bar area, arcade and all the way round. Nice grassed area looking out to sea, although there is a steep drop the other side of the fence. Very clean. security on the entrance and we had to show our passes every time.
The kids loved the entertainment, prices at the bar were a bit on the steep side.

We had fantastic weather and stayed in a gold caravan( they've changed the rating system for this year), wouldn't recommend the chalets-they looked a bit nubby!
Our caravan was lovely and all of the other people in caravans (bronze & silver) didn't have a problems and in fact some were nicer than the gold, but the ones in chalets did have problems.

Only odd thing was taking you dirty sheets to the laundry to get a ticket, then hand keys in at reception to get deposit back. In all other places weve bagged them up and left them in the caravan.
