The airports themselves will not have any restrictions, it is the airlines that determine whether they accept unaccompanied minors. Most charter airlines have a minimum age of 16 so I suspect that you will be looking at either Cyprus Airlines or British Airways - flying from Heathrow. BA allow children between 6 and 12 to travel unaccompanied under their Skyflier Solo programme where they will be escorted through the airport from check-in to boarding by BA staff at all times. Over 12s may travel unescorted but may also still use the Skyflier Solo service ( which I expect would put your mind at rest!). There is a charge for the service of $50.00 (approx £25.00 at today's rates) for each sector. This is in addition to paying the adult fare for the journey.
Cyprus Airways operate an Unaccompanied Minors scheme for children aged 6 to 15 inclusive. You need to fill in some forms prior to departure - their web site states that you need to contact their customer services or reservations offices for more details.

ok so, i'm having trouble trying to find flights for my daughter this year. I have been looking for her to go to Cyprus for a week in feb ( which i know cannot be done from Bristol ) 2 wks in april and from around 15th july - 2nd september. What were having trouble with is ages, she will be 14 in july and i can't seem to get any flights for her to go on her own. Could anyone reccomend any airlines which we could give it a go with please? Would be greatfull for all replys.
Thanks

Most airlines won't accept responcibility for unaccompanied minors on flights and have to be 16 or over to travel alone. Your best bet will be Cyprus Airways who will accept under 16's. More information on their website. Your other option is British Airways 'Skyflyer solo'.

Hi
Darren cyprus airways would be my first choice but seeing as they don't go from Bristol i don't think i would let her go to Heathrow on her own, although i trust her and she knows what shes doing from other times travelling from heathrow i think its a big place for her to be in on her own.. so maybe i should just keep looking out and wait around if not she'll have to wait till i go out for the 6 weeks!
thanks anyway guys

having the same problem with my nephew. FlyGlobespan won't accept. Cyprus Airways and BA are the only two I think and we are not keen on him going through Heathrow.
You're strugling really because the charter airlines that fly direct from BRS don't do unaccompanied minors. The main scheduled airlines such as CYP and BA do but they don't fly from BRS as you know.
Darren
Any info appreciated - I've phoned two airlines and both gave me different answers (Aer Lingus and British Airways).
You got two different answers because you've spoken to two different airlines. Airlines have their own policies regarding unaccumpanied minors so you'll need to speak to the specific airline concerned regrding their current policies. Airlines websites are a good start as their policies are normally quoted.

I know one of you lovely people will help me on here & sorry if this has been mentioned before on a different thread ..
My daughter leaves school next may and would like to go and visit her dad in Texas in july for her birthday.. she will be 16 but i can't seem to find any airline that would allow her to fly to US on her own at this age? Could anybody help me with some airlines that could possibly allow her to fly?

British Airways is probably your best bet. More information on their website under Children travelling alone.
