I like your way of thinking Del.

package for 2 adults, two weeks at the Phoenix park, 21st feb cost was £1796 including Premium cabin etc.with First Choice
Which is virtually what we paid for this year
Price it on line and then trawled the travel agents but no one could beat it although travel Hypermarket matched it and threw in free coffee while we booked!
Figured that the Sat flights would sell out quickly.

by the way, anyone looking for a late deal this season might get a good deal as according to the agent the problems with visas have left a lot of holidays unsold  :

We booked f/c nov08 on the Saturday flights, much better than flying during the week. We are staying at the silver sands and we upgraded our room to Superior for two wks and paid £1386, well pleased with that.

carol Q, when you say superior rooms do you mean the bungalows.
When i looked I found that the bungalow upgrades made it about the same price as the phoenix park.
in fact if I take off the premium cabin charges (about £400) then we have paid about the same!

They are not bungalows they have larger rooms at the silversands that are superior which is for first choice customers, they have aircon, tv's etc, included, We was told by some friends who was there in march this year upgrade to them if we booked there, as we where staying in calungute thought we would have a change next year.Think it worked out about another £84 on top of the normal price.

Hi Andy is that December 2008? December 2009 seems very far off!

Just to add about the Silversands superior rooms, we stayed in them in March this year and they were much better than the bungalows, as we met some people and had a look at their bungalow.

P.S. We are staying there again next March.

Would definitely recommend the silversands superior rooms too, we had a look at them last Xmas and they are very superior to the bungalows, infact for Goa they are quite 'plush'

So glad we have booked at silversands after hearing about the superior rooms, going to be a long year, but worth the wait :) Lozza07 did you go to bono's shack? we was there most of our time when we where there in april, thats how we got to know about silversands,

Hi Carol,

No we used Lawrencio's shack, which I think is next to Bono's. To be honest it was one of the first shacks we come to on our first day, and then never went anywhere else. The food was good, the shack boys were nice and the toilet was clean!! (also very close to our hotel)

You won't be disappointed with Silversands, although the included breakfast wasn't up to much.

A cautionary note, with the recent consolidation of travel companies there is now effectively only two travel groups in this country. My daughter and family booked two weeks to Turkey for this summer about six months ago with daytime flights from Edinburgh with First Choice. She got a letter two days ago telling her after a review it has been necessary to cancel or reduce flights and she now is on a Thomson night flight from Glasgow take it or leave it ! The same thing could happen with the downturn in Goa bookings. Already Monarch flights pick up from Gatwick and Manchester and if bookings are slow next season, First Choice flights could well be switched to Thomson or vice versa
