Hi - we're thinking of going to Goa in December 2008. Have read good reports about Marinha Dourada. Is this a good place to go for a first visit to Goa? Would we be close to other restaurants etc?
If you don't think this would be a good place first time, could you recommend somewhere more suitable?
Also, a visa question - do they turn people down for visas, only the High Commisison website advises not to confirm travel arrangments until you have a visa. Obviously if I get the visas first, then I won't get the holiday I want.
Any advice/suggestions would be much appreciated.
Linda
Your Visa will be valid for 6 months so you dont really want to apply until much later on in 2008.
Ive never know anyone to be refused a Visa.
You would be best to book your holiday and then apply for your visa around September or October 2008. You will have nothing to worry about, it will be fine.
Any other questions please feel free to ask or send me a PM.
5 minutes in a taxi will take you to the beach, plenty of restaurants and bars.
Be adventurous and take a 10 minute taxi ride to even more restaurants and bars.
However, make sure you check with other guests, what the going rate for taxi rides is likely to be.
These guys that hang about outside the hotels are sharks.
We are taking our first trip on New years eve and we too have booked this hotel. I did much research and asked many questions before we did and it seems the best value for money around and not too basic for our first trip.
To be fair to the taxis outside the M/D, I can honestly say I have never been overcharged. I know that they pay the M/D to work from outside the M/D and if they get caught trying to overcharge they are banned from working there....Keith
ps- I have always found there is a "darkness surcharge" !
debgreg02, we will be at MD new years eve, have you got your wristbands?
Shame you will miss KJF! He's not going this year!
Thanks everyone. Expect I will have lots more questions!!

Keith told me he was off to Oz, pity as it looks like we both support the same team We don't actually arrive until the first because of the time difference ,flying FC 3.55 on 31st. Has anyone been on a flight on NYE just wondered if they celebrated will have to get some wristbands.
Debi
Beacuse of he time difference you get to celebrate new year a bumber of times, after the 3rd time not many people join in with auld langs ayne.
