Well done for emailing though! Brilliant! Would love to have seen his face when he received it! LOL!
Well done Col, stand up for your rights
Irishcolleen well done. Its about time the drivers were told, the other problem is that when you ask for a run from beach to hotel (MD) they ask for 150rupees. I say 'we will give you 80rupees' and they laugh at you!! Our usual taxi driver is picking us up from Dabolim Airport and he said that he will be a bit dearer, we have agreed for him to pick us up but there will be no runs thru the holiday. If they used there meters they would be miles cheaper, but there is no chance of that.
We use the brother in law of people we know of a shack to do any long runs..or airport runs back. He is an EXTREMELY safe driver!...and those that have been in the taxi's in Goa...will know what I mean about their driving!!!
We have been using Jacinto for the past 2 years. For those of you who stay in or near Colva, he's the one who has "ryan" on his tuk-tuk, his sons name, says it's a lot easier for the English etc to remember rather than his We loved his tuk-tuk so much, we brought it
by the way, does anyone know if you can get a taxi big enough for 4 plus luggage from the airport rank , or all they all mini-micro-buses?
We got four of us plus luggage in one of the old type Ambassador taxi's 2minutes into the journey...he was after BIL's trainers he was wearing LOL!
Pam, did you get that from the rank outside??
Yes! I think most of them are the Ambassador type taxis out there. We've also asked them to wait when we get to hotel while we change some money up to pay them - (I know you're not supposed to but we always fetch rupees back home with us just for this reason)
As there are 4 of us going this year I was going to arrange for a private transfer but if I can get a biggish car from the rank , so much the better.
It's been years since I had a ride in a Morris Oxford/Cowley.
going back to the airport we all went back in one of the wee white mini bus looking taxis we all got in cases and all no problem(4 of us )
.....what gets to me is the same journey by taxi in delih or Mumbi would cost at the very most 50 rupees ........colleen
Colleen - we also have a taxi driver called Sergio Fernandes who was great with us in January and is picking us up on Tuesday morning - is this the same one ?
