Sadly I now feel that Martins Corner has become a victim of it's popularity, and I wouldn't visit again during the Christmas / New Year period. The food was still good but the Ambience was lacking. Just too crowded with people waiting for tables in every corner , and waiters desperately trying to reorganise seating. But most of all I just don't like being given the bill before I've asked for it in order to be rushed out.
So I don't know if I should mention a real gem that I found , thanks to a member posting a photo taken there. It's Fernando's Nostalgia in Raia near Margao . The restaurant is very spacious, and filled with interesting bric a brac and antiques, incuding a small chapel area . The menu is displayed on tin plates , which sometimes disappear ! don't expect international cuisine the slogan says " Truly Goan " . The prices are very reasonable but there is a 10% service charge.
We were the only tourists there , for a look try here http://www.goanweddings.com

Glad you enjoyed Nostalgia ~ it truly is a gem of a place. We shall be visiting again in March.
Thanks MadAboutGoa
It was your photo that drew me there, On signing the visitors book I asked if it was possible to meet Chef Fernando sadly we were told he had passed away in early December, but his tradition will continue. I will definately be back again. If you find any more hidden treasures do let me know, it's so refreshing to get away from tourist restaurants for a change.

This news is so sad
I knew he was suffering from throat cancer but didn't know that he had 'expired' (as the Goans say). Of course, if I uncover any other hidden treasures I will post.
Mishas has been mentioned on here, can anyone please tell me whereabouts in Varca this is
Many Thanks
Many Thanks
Mishas is on the lane leading to the Club Mahindra, as is the Sun and Moon . Very handy if you are staying there ,
or at the Radisson White Sands .

We use Sun'n' Moon at Varca and really like it and the guys who work there. They have 2 daschunds and 4 puppies and a lovely dog called Bonzo and some birds of prey. Food is good too!
Thanks lassigirl, we didnt find out that there was another Sun N Moon until the end of our holiday but we did find that ok which was great as we are big fans of the one by the taj but unfortunately when we left on 1st December it still hadnt opened. We will go to Mishas on our next visit now we know where it is.
Thanks again
Thanks again
We have just returned from Goa and without doubt our favourite restaurant was Vinnys. Fantastic food both Goan and English.
The worst restaurant in our opinion was Mikes Place, the food was really awful. We both left it, ate hardly any of it but it still made me ill for 24 hrs.

Have been to Colva for the last 4 years and always had good food at a reasonable price, until this year when we dined at the 49ers restaurant which is attatched to the sea coin hotel. We were ripped off for the very first time in India when they tried to charge us 1950 rupees for a fish dinner for two with just a couple of drinks. After seeing the manager we paid 1350 rupees which was too much so if in Colva beware of the 49ers :
Joecons was my favourite place.
