It seems that a recent post offends, but I think people get upset over stereotyping when on holiday. I get branded a 'Jock' and don't particularly like it but I just shrug it off. I think the point that was kind of missed is that as a NATION (UK) we have probably the worst reputation abroad (holidaymakers) for: arrogance, boorish behaviour, loud mouthed, tight fisted, lager drinking and so on (statistically the worst in Europe). It's a reputation that these days is difficult to shake. Unfortunately it's always a few or a small crowd that can't seem to handle the beer and sun. Personally I've never seen the point on going on holiday and having the need to display where your origins are, in fact I find it to your advantage to keep people guessing. I've never had the urge to travel around the world in a 'see you jimmy wig' and a kilt or wear any garment not suited for anywhere hot.
Unfortunately there is an increasing amount of UK tourists that have been going to Goa now to get 'hammered' at the cheapest bar/shack EVERY day and I must say I have seen some very poor taste behaviour verging on racism to waiters involving a few group of lads who were getting someone else to 'sign on' and collect Giros while they spent the least amount of money to get out of it in Goa. It's probably cheaper to live in Goa for 2 weeks if you work it out (I know someone who waited 3 days at Gatwick and bagged a 99 flight). How much is a Goan getting out of all this?
I've twice moved on holiday (ended up in a hotel full of part-time drinkers who were unbearable) but my package was cheap anyway, if I don't like I move or get a flight only. I know know which areas I want to stay.
We ALL want to go to Goa to relax but it can be difficult to do this on a package sometimes. It's not about snobbery but having respect for all the travellers around us, by all means have a party but if you can't handle the bevvy or know when you are causing a scene call it a night. (I'm Scottish and can stay up all night given the occassion!)
There are an increasing amount of posts where people want to make observations on how Goa is TODAY and do not want to offend in anyway. It's just a fact that people do want to discuss this which tends to be more towards the negative unfortunately. This was virtually UNHEARD of 3 years ago on this board. Doesn't that tell us something?
(This board in my opinion is probably well behaved when you go to YouTube and read some comments that people make... EXTREMELY opinionated views.)
