Delta Air Lines has begun merger talks with Northwest Airlines, according to the office of House of Representatives Transportation Committee.

Apparantly Northwest does see commercial benefits in a merger with Delta, although it is also understood that Delta are looking at United Airlines.

This can be very interesting when considering all 3 airlines have considerable hubs and many aircraft flying around the world.

It will also be interesting to see what the impact will be on competition, prices and services.

I am sure when this breaks we will all hear more about it.
