I found a link to this forum from Martins Lewis' forum and I wondered if anyone could give me any advice as I am really worried about this...
Myself and my elderly mother are flying to Ercan (Northern Cyprus) on 5th April. I booked with Netflights.com with Turkish Airlines. Going out at 1515 from Stansted with an hour stopover in Istanbul and on to Ercan. Return on 12th April at 0940, hour stop in Istanbul, arrive Stansted 1415.
Booked on 5th October 2009.
We are going from Stansted as I am dropping my children there who are flying to another destination, flights all booked.
I have prepaid airport parking for a week and paid for a non-refundable hotel room on the return, as I am collecting the children again from Stansted on 13th April.
I just had a look at the checkmytravel bit of Netflights, with my log in details and it now says, Flight 1 (stansted - ercan)... 'unable, does not operate'.... then it gives details of a flight at 2230 from Heathrow instead and it says confirmed... same with the return.
This new flight has a 7 and a half hour wait at Istanbul on the way back and all the flight times are absolutely not what I would have booked. Heathrow is an hour and a half away from Stansted and I would NEVER have booked to go from there.
I have read the terms and conditions and it says for flight time changes of less than 8 hours, they will email you and if not heard in 14 days, they will accept this as my acceptance..
I have had no such email, unless it went into spam and was deleted.
I have checked on netflights and indeed there are no such flights from Stansted and it appears Turkish Airlines do not even operate out of there now.
I have to be at Stansted for the children, I've booked parking, hotel etc and I will not let my mother have to sit in Istanbul for nearly 8 hours.
Obviously I will be phoning their customer service line first thing tomorrow, I've searched everything I can tonight and have got nowhere.
Can anyone help me on where I stand, what I need to say etc etc.
I have to cancel, but I also cannot afford to lose the £500 the flights cost.
Any help much appreciated.
Not an area I know anything about but do you have flight numbers/references? Some of our members may be able to assist but will need that information to do so. When did you book the flights?

Original flight numbers - TK1972, with connection TK964
Return - TK1971
Similar thing happened to us last year with TUI,we were offered alternative flights or the chance to cancel,we accepted the alternative as we were meeting friends at the hotel.Good luck,hope you can find something else to tie in with your arrangements,T.
I just know they are going to say they went me an email and as I didn't reply within 14 days, that was taken as my acceptance of the change.... hence no refund.
I got no such mail, unless it went to spam and was deleted.
I am sick here and I can't even get through to them.
It can be done,I think, if you don't want to cancel.National Express coach from Stansted to Heathrow,2 adults about £60,you could then use your car parking,hotel room and your original holiday,sorry can't see any way round the long stop over in Istanbul.Hope this helps.
Thanks, but the arrival time back is 2100 at Heathrow, doubt there would be a bus back to stansted at that time, it's just all totally unsuitable.

Thanks, am on hold now while the customer service person is calling Turkish Airlines to see if they will allow a cancellation.

Their ticket is £150 more than the price we paid (between 2), which is blooming annoying, but we have no choice, way too many arrangements been made, to just knock it on the head now!
But at least you've found a way around the problem, even though it will cost you £150. Bite the bullet and get on with enjoying your holiday. Have a great time.
Every time I went to the Pegasus site, the fare had gone up by £20, so that was £80 by the time I decided that they can stuff it.
Netflights phoned Turkish Airlines and they agreed to refund, minus some airline insurance. I've cancelled my airport parking and insurance.
We're all really sad.

Oh dear - I thought you'd managed to salvage things. Sorry to hear it all went irretrievably pear-shaped.
Cant you go on Holiday somewhere other than Northern Cyprus ? I am sure if you give this forum a budget and types of places you like they will come up with some ideas.#
