There are a few hotels on the carribean side, the sunscape casa del mar, and Iberostar Hacienda Dominicus seem the two that are most highly rated, look very nice too lovely beach and calm sea, quite reasonable in price with thomas Cook - I havent been only know about them because we are going to one or the other in June once we have made our mind up between the two.
We stayed on the Caribbean coast at the Costa Carribe but the beach was not as nice as the Riu hotels in the North. There was a nice beach with a lagoon at the Coral Hamica hotel, just along from the Carribe in Boca Chica, but I didnt like the look of the hotel.
Thanks for your replies, will have a look and see what I can find ..... hubby is trying to pressurize me into booking the Bahia Principe but not quite convinced yet , lol.
highly reccommend the south coast if you want true caribbean waters...you have a choice of a few hotels there, the iberostar hacienda dominicus, the casa del mar or the canoa coral. these are premium hotels and all available throught he regular tour operators. we stayed in the east coast last august and it wasnt a patch on the south coast. wont make that mistake again!
