My brother in law is booked up to go away with us in May
He has taken ill and the hospital has put him on tablets for 3 months and stated he has DVT will he still be able to fly?
Will he have to contact airline and ask them if they will allow him to fly?
Has any one any suggestions?
They may let him fly, but he may possibly need a 'fit to fly' certificate.
From what I remember (2002) though my hubby was kind of wedded to the hospital for the three months that he was on it. He had to keep going up there to have the thickness/thinness of his bood monitored. This was in London and the clinic was on every afternoon from 1pm to 4pm and it was stranding room only every-time, it was a real eyeopener as we didn't realise so many were taking it
He will need to get a 'fit to fly' letter from his GP. If he rings his local hospital and asks to speak to someone in the anti-coagulation clinic they will be able to offer advice. It is best to ring late afternoon as the staff are busy in clinics in the morning taking blood samples. Hope this helps Denny
He will also need to inform his travel insurance and I doubt they will cover it.
Ive passed the information on to him thanks again
