Hi Everyone,
I booked a cruise a few months ago for my wife and our son across the med in November 2008 with first choice.
I recieved a letter from them on friday to advise us that there would be a group of 2000 people joining the cruise and were advising us about this and we have the chance to cancel. The problem is that they have refused to say what the group of 2000 people are there for, Weather its a group of Nuns or a group of bikers, I feel i have the right to know for the sake of my young son. I can cancel the holiday but i will loose my £300 deposit, or they can offer an alternative but i will have to pay the difference.
Can any one tell me if this is right what they can do and am i entitled to a full refund.

I ask because their website says they only have 2 ships, Island Star and Island Escape. Passenger capacity is 1,875 and 1,740 respectively. So I don't know where they think they are going to put this rather large group.
As a side note, ship captains don't allow any kind of rowdy behaviour, especially if it is deemed to affect the health and safety of the passengers and crew. He/she can remove them from the ship at his/her pleasure.

So your operator is Royal Carribean but you booked it through First Choice, yes? Who has sent you the letter? FC or RC?
According to their website, if you cancel now, RC will refund all but your deposit and if you are flying out of UK to meet the ship, your airline may charge you 100% cancellation fee.
