I'm a bit surprised as I'd heard Sea Club were wanting to boost direct sales. If the tour operators have contracted the place out, then I doubt there would be a chance of booking even if there were rooms available.

One possible alternative is Mariner Club Apartments which is a much smaller complex but is similarly low-rise. But you might just run into the same problem with the operators' contracts. Otherwise in Alcudia, there are even smaller apartment places which would accept direct bookings in most cases, e.g. Venecia, Tamarindos and Ses Dalies, all of them close to the beach.

Puerto Pollensa has some options, Hobby Club on the front, Duva and Habitat which are both a bit of a walk to the beach and Club Sol which is outside the town and has no beach to speak of right by it. But to what extent these are all tour operator controlled I couldn't say.

I remember seeing the Mariners Apartments now, located quite close to the Sea Club from memory. I'll look into that or maybe hang a bit in the hope of getting either the Sea Club. Have been to Puerto Pollensa before, lovely place but preferred Alcudia as had more to do for the kids (only a short taxi/bus ride away though I suppose).

Looks like the tour operators are putting a bit of a squeeze on DIY holiday makers!

According to Sea Club (and I asked someone there), they do take direct bookings but not in June, July or August - which isn't much good for most people!
