Just a word of warning....
if you book flights using Airmiles or any other frequent flyer programme check how your insurance views it, especially in the Cancellation section. When I was checking out policy wording a few weeks ago they varied from giving a market value refund down to nothing at all.
well, I'm thinking its time I joined another ff programme after the carry on I've just had with BA. But- which one to go for?? Luci- thought of BMI and was going to ask you but it seems you aren't too enamoured with them. Sunbear- Star Alliance- must look into that.
I am in emirates skywards programme, good benefits including booking seat no's which you cannot do if you are not in Skywards.
I'll have to see who else is in that alliance.
We belong to Emirates Skywards, we have upgraded our flight home this year to Business Class from the points we earned last year. We earned them with Sri lankan and because Sri Lankan and Emirates have now seperated as joint management we were told we would loose the points if we didn't use them up. We did have to pay a bit but effectively it was half the cost. We are really excited about it. Have now joined the Sri Lankan equivilent reward scheme now. As said above the main reason for joining was so we could pre book our seats.
Also going to San Francisco in October on miles- WT+ on way out and First on way back. If you do have BA miles you will find them far easier to redeem right now.
Still looking around for another airline where I can build up points without actually flying
Qatar Airways Privilege Club Gold Card, never have a problem booking, changing dates ect, use my miles for my wife to travel Uk/Qatar Buisness class.Qatar have book in online and any class can request a seat by number you dont have to be a Privilege Club member for this service.
I've used Skywards points in the past to upgrade any economy Emirates flight without any problems but it looks a bit more difficult with BA.
Thanks in advance
Jan
no I'm afraid you can't use miles to upgrade on a cheap fare flight. Check to see if it is a Y B or H ticket, but even then you can only upgrade if you have booked directly with BA
I am afraid all you airline club members are a little out of my league, I can barely afford to travel premium class, first class/club class is definitely an out of my league class
I did my First flights through BA miles. Its a lot easier than you think. The only fares I pay for are cheapo economy ones
I hear what you are saying, I don't have a c c so not sure I can collect points anyway, only teasing.
If you are strong enough to get a cc and pay it off every month its worth it. Not sure about other miles cards but the BA Amex is high interest and not worth the miles if its not paid off every month.
Not for me Fiona, wrongly or rightly it was the way I was brought up, never had the need for one and don't really want one - my folks used to say if you can't afford it straight away then you can't afford it at all - and I think partially that's true. I know some people have them and pay everything each month with no debt, but I also know others that have many many cards and pay only the depoit each month owing lots of money... horses for courses. I miss out on some stuff like air-lines and being able to get free first class travel, but hey I can go premium class.
Well you must be doing something right- I couldn't afford premium class
save my pennies in a penny jar
