We try to keep the posts on the forums related to holiday questions and enquiries, and on topic. This is so that the information can easily be accessed by members and visitors to the forum without having to read through off topic discussion.

Therefore, as a trial period, I have opened this topic so that the Malta and Gozo regulars have a place to discuss topics which are a little more relaxed.

Hopefully this will be a successful thread which the members will enjoy posting in. Please keep it friendly.I don't mind the off holiday natter as long as we all stay friendly. The old general chat brought out the worst in some people and I wouldn't like to see that happen in here.

I have removed posts that caused offence to some of our members.

Please can we refrain from sarcastic personal comments.

Good to see Lidle opening in Malta next week. Should be good competition for the bigger stores to compete with. :que

Hello, I see this site has gone as quiet as a Leicester city fan.

Hi Dave

I'm not surprised my family are Leicester City fans and there's a lot of doom and gloom in their house!!

Hello, I will not say all any more as there dose not seem to be anybody useing this forum, just thought I would let you know about my weekend away down in London (23/24 may 08)
I go down to London every few months to see my youngest daughter and her boy freind and stay over at there house, some times we go for a westend show or a play at there local theatre, anyway this weekend we went down and went to the Prince Edward Theatre to see the Jersey Boys. Well if you ever get the chance to go and see this I have got to say this is one of the best productions I have been to, the set is far better than Momma Mia, better songs than We Will Rock You and a far better show than Greese.
If you like Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons that is, this is a must to see telling of there rise from the back streets of Jersey in New York to world fame, the actors play and sing there way through some of there greatest hits and I must perhaps better than than the real Four Seasons it brings back so many of the good time had back in the 60s and later.
So if you are thinking of going to see a show in London soon this is the one I would say go and see. By the way had a great weekend lots of beer and a new wine for me, Black Merlot very nice and a good meal and then a few more beers at our daughters local pub.
I know this is not about Malta but there is nothing else on the telly at the moment :cheers

Dave.

P S did Charliegirl007 get back from Malorca alright?

We saw the Jersey Boys in Vegas a couple of weeks ago and agree with you that it is a great show. They hold nothing back and it tells the story warts and all. The music and the songs are great. Would definitely see it again.

coooooeeeeeeeeee :wave Well seeing as there seem to be changes on this forum I think that I will give it a try aqain. We have just got back from Mallorca with daughter, her hubby and grandkids. As usual we had a fantastic time. Although we really want to take the kids to Malta to 'show them off' to our friends, compared to Mallorca there isn't much for kids in Malta. We re thinking about going to Malta again sometime this year if we an fit it in.
Well I must say that I have missed this forum although I have kept a close watch on it and I am hoping that it will soon return to 'normal'

Hi Dave, sounds like you had a smashing time, but what were you paying on average for a pint down south ?, even though prices seem to be rising up here all the time (Manchester, Stalybridge, and Tameside in general more like Monaco prices these days) I have always found the south much more expensive for drinking and eating out.

I keep looking at this forum as I just love Malta and Gozo..but nobody ever seems to post owt!
Must be one of the quieter forums....bit like Gozo itself..nice and quiet.

Incidentally, some friends of ours own property in Xaghra on Gozo and a Gozitan friend of theirs has recently been in contact and asked them to bring a special present over when they come over for their 4 month visit....it is the one and only thing he wants from England...wait for it......A SAT NAV :rofl :rofl for Gozo.. :rofl :rofl

The island is about 12 miles long I think (and maybe I am being generous with that).....

Still hoping to get there in August for a week but so far haven't done a great deal about it..might be one of those last minute things..

A Sat Nav may be he's a gaget man Val, as for Gozo, well hopefully we go to Gozo late June, I say hopefully because i just recieved so bad news to day, which has rather knocked the thought of my hols rather, still shall wait and see how the days unfold.
As for the Sat Nav, well maybe there are places I missed in Gozo that only the Sat Nav can find!!!!!!!!

Hello Sliema2, though you had gone to the great forum in the sky, not seen you about for a bit. Any way the price of beer as you say is a worry I am glad I don't live in London and you see why they earn big money down there just to pay for the beer, well here are some of the prices we paid last week, first were we live it is about £2,10 for a Carling in a pub.
In the Angel pub in Highgate I paid £9.50 for two pints and two halfs this was the cheapest, I don't think this is to bad, but in the Theatre we had four bottles of Bud (small ones) and it cost £16.00. One round before the show and one round in the interval so that was a shock to us. Our meal in a old pub that had been done up as a restaurant and was full to the brime went like this.
Four starters 1 bowl of Soup, 1 bowl of Mussels, 1 Pigs check and Wild Bore Sausage, and 1 veggie thing for my Daughter. the mains were 1 Sea bream, 1 Lamb shank and two Sirlon Steaks with two bottles of wine for just under £100.00.
Other rounds in some of the other pubs we went in were £12.00 in the Red Lion Highgate and £14.00 in a Spanish bar although some of our rounds did have shorts in them and by then I didnot care anymore, but we did have a great time so I think it was well worth it. It was better then paying for a season ticket for Leicester city next season.

Dave.
