I'm at the other end of the island from Jim in Kapparis and we have had some rain. Not a lot but it's a start.

We had about 30 mins yesterday and about an hour today.

It got so heavy today that I had to shelter in a bar with a pint of Keo. What a shame lol.

Jim is not desperate but all of Cyprus is!! we are in real troubles here regarding water, cuts are already in place, we need a lot more than a brief shower or two, and to be honest it is not going to happen this far into our summer..

last year we went on a jeep safari and our driver /guide pointed out one of the main reservoirs. He was very despondent as he explained the giant sloping walls should infact be covered in water and there was little chance of recovery. He went on to say the two really big concerns for people of the island are the water situation and currency change.

A lot of the island only have water three times a week at the moment due to the cuts because of the lack of water.

For thie worried about the water cuts it doesn't affect businesses so hotels, bars and restaurants shouldn't be affected it is just private residences.

I've been over here for 6 weeks now and saw a couple of showers when I first came over but that has been it.

I was in Paralimni on Thursday and the temperature outside the car according to a thermometer was 96 degrees and that was April, unbelievable.

wasnt it said in the cyprus mail at one point that it was the hottest april in so many years ? didnt belive my dad when he said he was sat in the garden swetting ( not very nice i know ) but swetting in mid april, the swimming pool is calling him....
