Hi,
The Dominican Republic is an amazing place. I spent last christmas in the Hacienda (Cofresi) for 3 weeks and I have stayed in Cabarete for 2 weeks. Both times I stayed with my daughters who really enjoyed the experiences.
I recommend you visit Ocean World in Cofresi (if you're staying in the Noth) and the outback safari is amazing and is available in both the North and South regions.
I am going to Bavaro the east coast on the 9th May for 2 weeks with my oldest daughter and am really looking for ward to it.

I wish you a happy holiday

Thanks Yvonne,

another question, is it compulsery to take malaria tablets for dom rep? ive had mixed answers from people iv asked. some say yes definatley, some say no not unless you are thinking of doing safaris etc and some say its preference. :que i would really prefer not to as most people ive spoken to who have taken them have really suffered with side affects.
what would you reccommend as you have travelled a few times. i dont mind taking them just dont want to be ill whilest im away as im only there for the week and want to enjoy myself. :cheers
Thanks

Hi,

I have not taken anti-malaria tablets for any of my trips to the DR and I have been on safari's both times. I personally wouldn't take them unless they were strongly recommended or compulsory and the DR they are not.
I have stayed in the DR for a total of 5 weeks from christmas to middle of January and I travelled on the local buses, went in the local towns, went on the safari etc all with my 11 year old and we haven't experienced any problems because we didn't take anti - malarials.

P'S I am going to The Gambia on Friday and anti - Malaria tabs are essential so I had to buy them!

Hi Yvonne,
Lucky you. Where are you staying? You'll love the Dom Rep. As regards to Malaria tablets - we never took them when we went and we didn't have any problems. If you get the chance to do the Jeep Safari, don't hesitate. You'll have a brilliant day out. Have fun!!
