Hiya, we've been to the Santa Lucia many times, and absolutely love it! You can hire tea/coffee making facilities from reception, the cost was 12 euros per week last year and I think you have to leave a deposit, which you get back. Only downside is that when you order it at check in, the maids don't leave it in your room until the following day when they service your room, but it's definitely worth doing, you get a supply of tea/coffee and biscuits, however when you use up these supplies you will need to supply your own, so I suggest you take a jar of coffee with you as it seems very expensive over there, they give you small cartons of milk/cream but we prefer buying a carton of fresh milk from the supermarket over the road, you can hire a fridge, you also do this at reception, we do this every year as it's handy for milk, soft drinks and water.

We're off here next week and have managed to email the hotel asking them to leave a tea tray in our room for arrival and we will pay as soon as we check in, they have promised us they will do this.

Also recommend you ask for a room on the Matias side, as these rooms get the sun most of the day, if you get a room on the Palma Nova beach side, your room will be in the shade.

If there is anything else you want to know, please ask, only too glad to help.

Just had an email back from them, but took ages. The correct email address is res.santalucia@hotelesglobales.com. I would email them asap to get a response before you go. Hope you have a lovely holiday. Alison

Hi oldies,
I can tell you that in the Santa Lucia as you walk into the reception area there is a small shop on the right (run by an English lady) which now has all things for people to hire, I think they are also selling tea, coffee, milk etc,
I know this as I did the posters for them with the hire prices on them.

hope this helps

The shop in the hotel is excellent, staff very friendly, only one thing don't forget electric razor, hubby forget his and couldn't find replacement anywhere...Didn't see coffee, tea etc in shop but the supermarket over the road is very good and stocks just about everything - apart from electric razors haha...One thing I would definitely bear in mind is that if its just two of you travelling, I would ring the hotel before you go to ask for a room that does not connect to the one next door, as you will hear everything, even if next door talks quietly you can hear the whole conversation, very offputting....We just got back yesterday and love this hotel.

Does anyone know whether many children stay at this hotel in the summer months. Would children age 8 and 11 be out of place in July as I like the position of the hotel but am wondering whether it would be suitable for a family.

I think they allow children during the summer months, but not sure you'd call it ideal. It's in a perfect spot, right on the beach, and Palma Nova is a lovely resort, but I'm pretty sure that Santa Lucia is a Thomson Gold Hotel, and as such mainly appeals to adults rather than kids.

But maybe someone knows better. :que

If you haven't done so please check our reviews:- http://www.holidaytruths.co.uk/reviews/spain/balearic-islands/mallorca/palma-nova/santa-lucia-hotel/

I think it might be as Goodfellow says and maybe not so much a children's hotel but sometimes less is more so to speak. Hordes of children can lead to clashes whereas a few children in one place can lead to good friendships.

Check out the hotel's website if you haven't already done so http://www.hotelesglobales.com/cgi-vel/globales/ver-aloj.pro?idi=0&ntr=8011963156&ptr=0&alo=41

Stayed there a few years ago and there were children there but not a lot, however it was early May. The children all seemed quite happy. It was a lovely hotel, and because of the location it was near all the action without being in the middle of it.

Sol Mirlos Tordos would be best really.just across the road from santa lucia.trust me more for them to do.its geared up for familys.so in time you will not see your children at all.loads to do for them.its a theme hotel.one is more for more for adults and the other is the theme kids hotel.it will be cheaper as well.

Me and my friend and our kids (4 in total) stayed at the Santa Lucia about 4 years ago during Easter half term. We enjoyed it and so did the kids. There were a few kids in the hotel but not overrun with them (if you know what I mean) which we found better . The food was very good and the hotel is in a lovely position. We stayed at the Sol Magaluf Park a couple of years later, at the same time of year, and we all agreed the Santa Lucia was a better hotel mainly due to the dining room, food (the staff were fantastic with the kids) and location. I think it depends what you want. Personally, I prefer a hotel that isn't totally geared up for families.

Hello Churchill
We are going to the Santa Lucia in May( actually in Palmanova) and we have been several times and can recommend it.
Not too sure about recommending bars etc as we have mostly been in January when it is fairly quiet. However we do use the two bars right opposite the hotel.
You might like to go to Goodfellowes bar in Magaluf he is a member on HT and he has karaoke.
You will get a warm welome from Adam and Stephanie.

Sue
