Does anyone know of any hotel in Benidorm that has a Smoking Area in the bar.

The Regente and Riudor, also the Marina & Flamingo Oasis.
Some of these areas are at the opposite end of the same room, where the actual bar is situated.

The Avenida Hotel also has a nice smoking section in the bar!

It is an unused area near Gate 11. The tolerant Spanish smoking law (not anti smoking law with fines) allows for a separate smoking area in a large indoor public place. Unfortunately, Alicante Airport is open plan. They did have a smoking area at the other end, near Gate 1 at first, but had to stop that because it was not separated. The area near Gate 11 is on it's own, and was never used. Spanish people, even those who do not smoke, do not really have any problem with other people smoking, especially if it is not affecting them, so Gate 11 at Alicante has become a kind of unofficial smoking area.

Has anyone heard anything about the Spanish Government debating about bringing in a total smoking ban along the lines of the UK. Smoking to be banned in hotels, restaurants, bars and pubs and all public places ?
I know, as a smoker, I am biased and that many people will be more than happy if such a ban comes to pass but from my experience a lot of people, presumably smokers go to Benidorm for the cheaper cigarettes and tobacco available and if smoking were to be totally banned I think many tourists would stay away.
I would never dream of smoking in a restaurant and respect hotels and bars where smoking is not allowed but if I could not go into some bars and enjoy a smoke with the entertainment I would just stay at home.

Last thing I want is for this to develop into an argument about the pros and cons of smoking. I just want to know if anyone has any facts about this proposed ban and whether you think it would affect tourism.
