I think it worth reading up a bit so you undestand the risks and how to avoid them, you can make informed choice on if you need to protect.
"jabs" are advisable for everywhere in the world(including the UK) it is up to you to decide what you have and when.
Very few jabs are compulsory a common one is yellow fever and not because of visiting a place where you can get it, but because you are visiting somewhere else after you have been to a place where you can get it.
It is also a good idea to understand other aspects of health when traveling especialy to areas where the care may be limited or different to our own.
Some of the info can get a bit scary, there are some nasty things out there but in many cases the risks minimal with simple care.
